making a livetweet thread as i do my first read of the new branded/abyss/albaz yugioh lore. whatever you wanna call it.

hitting us with the gut punch IMMEDIATELY

so:
- quaeritis is the manifestation of all the previous saints who experienced "love and despair" ("quem quaeritis?" = who do you seek? = quaeritis would be related to quem)
- when ecclesia fell into despair from losing fleurdelis,

she lost the protection from the icejades that sealed her stigmata
- quem and quaeritis, understanding ecclesia's turmoil, embrace her as she holds fleurdelis
- ecclesia's stigmata transforms into a brand, and at the same time, quem, quaeritis, and ecclesia "melt together"

funnily enough, quaeritis is also confirmed to be a woman, as the text refers to the three of them as "the group of saintesses"

alright onto aluberalbaz main event:

- aluber and albaz fuse into alba lenatus
- however, at the last second, albaz is able to regain his sense of self as he feels ecclesia's sudden cry of despair
- mustering the last of the power left to him by chengying and kosmochlor,

albaz forges an icejade dagger and separates himself from aluber and regains his human form

and then this really amazing sentence i need to do a full translation of and tweet for:

"In the midst of the ruined battlefield, where not even a single breath was left to be drawn, Albaz desperately cried out for Ecclesia. But by then, "Ecclesia" no longer existed, and his voice only resounded hopelessly around the Swordsoul Sacred Summit."

icejade stuff:

- aegirine, seeing her mother figure turn dark and disappear in front of her, is consumed by hatred
- these strong emotions trigger her transformation into the new icejade queen
- at the same timel, swordsoul mo ye's body becomes encased in ice

- mo ye is then transformed into a guardian of the new icejade queen
- "no, what it became was not a guardian, but a sword of revenge wielded by the two who lost the ones they were trying to protect" (aegirocassis)

(there is a minor recap about kitt's battle with the springans, therions, and sprights and their little fighting game side story)

back to Ecclesia's Super Happy Fun Time:

- nexus, which became proskenion, opens its doors, and out walks cartesia
- cartesia is "the purest embodiment of all 666 saintesses who were crushed by multitudes of love and despair, ruled by chaos"
- though it looks like ecclesia,

cartesia is an "amalgamation of resentment" that has no will of its own, with "eyes that are empty"

sorry y’all mr albaz himself is trying to impede my translation efforts. he has been fed and he insists he hasn’t

- with the newly created cartesia, the interior of despia, theatre of the branded begins to stir
- dramaturge uses power of his amplified brand to create countless "holes" in the sky
- from these holes, a giant dragon emerges

"Beyond the Holes lied a realm where people and gods once existed, where a whole world once existed, and where sovereigns that dominated the world through sheer strength once existed.

From there came a Dragon King, a puppet, who cast no shadow."

cutting back to albaz:

- as if guided, albaz returns to the great sand sea - gold golgonda
- there, the tribrigade and their beast tribe allies are all gathering and waiting. the mercourier albaz released earlier (before the fight at swordsoul summit) had reached them

"Albaz was sure of one thing.

The residue of power within him, and the dragon's power within [Aluber] had called out to each other.

Then, as if lying in wait just for him, a gigantic shadow appeared and filled the sky, large and domineering.

Albaz scowled and glared at it."

"Aluber, upon sensing Albaz's presence, pulled his lips into a mocking smile, and urged Cartesia to use her crystal - the condensed power of the Holes.

Then, as if he were showing off, a giant Hole opened in the sky above."

- a giant weapon appears from the hole, "like the myth, two dragons entwined to protect the goddess appear" (alba los)
- this is apparently the power maximus could only imitate when he first invoked dogmatikalamity

"Taking a portion of its power into himself, Aluber transforms into a gigantic dragon before Albaz's eyes.

Albaz, the one who had lost the power to become a dragon himself."

bro we are only halfway through all the abyss lore pages as of rn. this is insane

- albaz and the tribrigades start getting a little scared of who theyre dealing with
- longyuan fuses with the serpent golgonda's corpse to become the abyss dragon swordsoul
- cartesia?? also changes into a dragon with the power of the brands? (granguinol)

- deep within dogmatika, something else ("surely, a great calamity") was brewing
- dramaturge emerges from the depths and "having gone beyond the realm of mortal men, he become what can only be known as a god" (alba zoa)

alright the fight makes my eyes glaze over so i'm speeding:

- it looked like all hope was lost, but then aegirine comes over to turn the tide
- despia forces are too strong still. when cut down, they spring back up with alba zoa's power

- the tri-brigs and the allied forces know the despians are regular people underneath, and are conflicted about killing civilians
- alba los burns them up
- then all of a sudden sargas and the springans show up and wreck shit
- sargas & shuraig land a hit each on alba los' heads

- kitt comes with rindbrum, she built it by combining her two protos and the sprights
- albaz gets grabbed like a cat
- shuraig fires two charged shots at the bystial lubellion, but cartesia jumps in the way to take it
- albaz jumps out without thinking, shouting ecclesia's name

"As the falling Albaz touched Cartesia, a dazzling light shone and enveloped the both of them.

Could this have been due to Albaz's dragon powers, which were supposed to have been taken away from him? Or was it due to the power of Cartesia? Or perhaps... a miracle on its own?"

- albaz manages to recover "ecclesia" from the mass that is "cartesia", and together they become albion, the incandescent dragon
- albion emits flames which envelope the entire battlefield. however, rather than harming, it instead turns the despians back into regular people

i am literally like 2 pages from the end but i have to go to sleep since i wake at 7:30am tomorrow

i'll bring the book into work with me and if i have downtime i will finish it off

two big things to note about the previous passage:

maximus refers to aluber as 奴の半身 ("that blasted half a body") which the furigana forces us to read as "aluber"

he also refers to the bystials as 私の半身 ("my half of the body"), which is then force-read as assassin

due to how maximus refers to aluber with 奴, i'm inclined to believe that the two halves of the body that's mentioned are from different wholes

ie, maximus' bystials, as it were, are one half of one thing. and aluber's "blasted half a body" are from something else entirely

"The curtains have yet to even rise on my story.

I have yet to build my mountain of corpses, made the rivers flow with blood, and welcome the god that shall lead me to the throne I would create with the art of death."

- alba zoa, after devouring the bystials, turns its attention to albion, the incandescent dragon in order to get rid of it
- at that moment, a bolt of red lightning struck where cartesia's body landed
- cartesia, having lost ecclesia, who was its keystone, lost its shape

- cartesia's breakdown without ecclesia causes fleurdelis to come to the surface
- "I will protect Ecclesia. I must protect Ecclesia."
- fleurdelis' intense desire to protect ecclesia transforms cartesia's body in despian luluwalilith

and the previous tweet should be "alba zoa, who became dis pater after devouring the bystials")

- this transformation was brought about by the swordsoul power within fleurdelis. the form of luluwalilith's armor and sword was fleurdelis' own swordsoul

- the good guys win ofc
- the new icejade queen, aegirine, encases the entirety of swordsoul mountain in ice ("firm, solid, so it could never crumble again")
- she also goes into isolation within the cradle

- she also seems to have zoa's body sealed away? the text says 母なる獣 to refer to it ("beast-mother") but the furigana... forces us to read it as "zoa"
- swordsoul mountain, icejade enion cradle are both sealed away by her as well

"A lone girl walks along the war-torn roads, mouthing words and sometimes turning back as if she were traveling with someone else."

- fallen of argyros is created from the spright energy that was released into the great sand sea
- it found a vessel in the wreckage of alba los and developed sentience
- "Though it has no memory, it makes sense. It was only just born."
- "With nowhere to go, it walks forward."

"As expected, even though it has fallen, the capital 'Golgonooza' was once a city of iron and art. Many interesting things came of it.

But nothing is more boring than a story that has gone on for too long."

- the continent begins to heal and rebuild in the aftermath
- after a while, albaz and ecclesia finally decide to go off on a new adventure, because there was still so much of the world they havent seen
- "But this journey will be more arduous than the one they just took."

"The fall of Dogmatika Nation, the northern power, would later go down in history as the 'Golgonda War'... which was only the beginning to a war that would soon engulf the entire continent.

The pulse of this new mighty power would become a spark, and whether the people of this world wanted it or not, the era would soon plunge into further chaos."
