I've completely outsourced my shit-talking to anons.

It has 10x'd my productivity and allows me to talk shit at scale.

Here's how I did it👇
First, I analyzed how much time I spend dunking on anons.

This came out to roughly 5 hours per day, or $1,000 of my time.

That means that 2 days would cover the cost of two assistants in the Philippines for a month.

Hell of an arbitrage.
Once I had my assistants, I needed to come up with some standard operating procedures.

I found that most of my trash-talking had common themes, so I could come up with canned responses such as:

"Cry Harder"
"Can't whoop me tho"
"Sit down"

Great for general use.
Let's look at the first example:

A Twitter user starts a fight with me unprovoked, my assistant is on top of it hitting them with the 3 piece and a soda.

Beautiful combination of "sit down" and "cry harder" Image
Sometimes there are more nuanced instances where the comments are specific to the oilfield.

The responses to these are specific to the domain but generic enough to be used in many situations.

Then, of course, follow up with the "can't whoop me tho" Image
I have my two assistants split time between the day tour and night tour.

This allows me to have 24/7 response times from a global workforce.

Anon comments will never go unchecked.
Soon, I will be using GPT-4 to analyze my content and train the model to mimic my "voice" and recognize the sentiment of comments towards me.

Through a series of API integrations, I will have a fully automated bot that talks shit on my behalf.

I love Javier and his work, but I have seen too much misunderstanding of how oil works on Twitter this week.

You can’t simply “boost production”

Here are my thoughts 👇
1) You don’t just “open a valve” to increase oil production.

It is extremely capital & time intensive to extract hydrocarbons

You have to get permits approved, construct locations, drill the well, frac the well, build production infrastructure etc.
You are talking a 6 month cycle at best.

Then you layer other constraints on top of that:

-labor shortages cause limited supply of oilfield services so you can’t bring wells on as quickly

-steel shortages make sourcing pipe difficult

Geothermal promises to be one of the cleanest and most abundant energy sources in the world.

But there is a major hurdle I'm trying to wrap my head around:

"Is the market large enough for the commercialization of technology?"

👇
The future of geothermal means drilling very deep and hot wells

We're talking potentially 15,000 ft.- 20,000 ft. deep and temperatures as hot as 700 degrees F

In contrast, oil wells in the U.S. are typically around 10,000 ft deep and the hottest formations are ~300 deg F
The tools we use to drill oil wells won't work to drill these geothermal wells.

The stress from hot temperatures degrades tools to the point where they are dysfunctional or have to be replaced so many times that it is uneconomic.

A NASA engineer lost Silicon Valley $500 million while searching for oil with Soviet fighter jets.

Here's the wild story you have probably never heard 🧵
Erlend Olson spent 14 years working at the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory before cofounding his first company in 1998.

Pivotal Technologies made chips for small electronics and in the dot-com era, they were able to sell out for $605 million after two short years.
After selling, Olson got back together with a couple of his JPL buddies to tinker around with some tech.

Using satellite data and remote-sensing technology, they had one mission:

Find subsurface water.

Oil and gas isn’t dead.

Doesn’t matter what you think or what messaging you try to project, the world is reliant on hydrocarbons and it will make up the majority of energy production for the next few decades.

Random thoughts ahead:
1) If you’re in oil and gas: climate change is real.

Denying it doesn’t change people’s mind about the O&G industry.

It’s pretty easy to understand that carbon in the atmosphere traps heat and warms the planet.
From the other side, it’s also easy to understand that climate models can be wrong as most models are.

A lot of extremisms on both sides.

Alright here’s some idea development around the world’s largest pizza party:

1) We should run it as a fundraiser and give all proceeds to the Barstool Fund. Maybe if we all tweet @stoolpresidente he can join us and lead us with the largest “one bite everyone knows the rules”
2) @DeadCaitBounce can give us ingredients for a cocktail of the night and walk us through making it.

Sounds like @Chilis might be down as well to hook up with some margarita kits?
3) @scottspizzatour should make some badass content with us for entertainment.

I’ve been creating content for 4-5 years and didn’t start getting traction until the last ~2 years.

It’s a a game of compounding, have to build it brick-by-brick. Image
Everyone looks to go viral for growth and that’s rarely ever the way.

Mr. Beast has been creating YouTube videos for 9 years and most of his audience has grown in the last couple of years.

Dave Portnoy has been running Barstool Sports for nearly 20 years.
It’s a long game of consistency.

We’ve been doing our podcast for 2 years, an episode every week. That’s a lot of time and effort to stay committed to something when you don’t know if it will lead to anything.
