🏃: AI that helps you in your editor
🏇: AI that helps you with every part of software development

It’s exciting times for us at GitHub Next, and today we’re sharing some of our prototypes from the last few months! 🧵
How would it feel to have an AI expert on hand?

We’re focused on empowering developers with a tool that answers questions using maintainer-written information and tailors to their experience level and current needs.

Ever need a Copilot in your terminal? We've built Copilot CLI, which turns descriptions into working shell commands — and then breaks them down and explains the details! We’re letting people try it out right now — go sign up for the waitlist.

We're using GPT-4 from @OpenAI to generate suggestions for your pull request descriptions. Add your repos to the waitlist for our technical preview:

🎤 "Hey, GitHub!" is now "Copilot Voice." You now need to use "Copilot" as a wake word that activates voice control.

🤖 Copilot Voice now includes strong conversational capabilities - you can ask it general questions, and it understands the context of your conversation and previous interactions.
📺 Next - integration with VSCode's terminal. Copilot Voice will help you with writing shell commands and remembering various flags. It will suggest a command and explain what it does - then you can refine it or accept and run it in the built-in terminal.
💡We're always looking for opportunities to expand our integration with the editor. Copilot Voice can access quick fixes and help you understand code diagnostics provided by your favorite language extensions.
🧯Writing code is only one part of software development, just as often we debug existing code. Copilot Voice now has new interactions with a debugger, including features like adding and removing breakpoints or checking the value of variables.
🛰️ User feedback is essential for us - based on your previous feedback, we've worked hard to improve Copilot Voice in some critical areas like UX around code suggestions or performance of intent detection.

You can now also provide us feedback directly through our chat view.
For more about these prototypes and our other projects, check out githubnext.com, or join our discord at discord.gg/githubnext to meet other folks who are interested in the future of software development, attend office hours, and get help with the various prototypes.
We are very excited for these prototypes to start turning into products! Explore the GitHub blog for more about these prototypes and the path ahead:
