Just putting this recent conversation with a "straight" man here for a reason that is totally unconnected to yesterday's post where everyone applied the method I would use to speak to people like him, and applied it to themselves, and got mad about it.
For the record, he has recently came out as "something not entirely straight" and was carrying a bit of internalised homophobia, and wanted to work some stuff out, so asked my advice.
We had a frank and honest chat, *on his level* about him, his preferences, what it actually was that he was into, and how that made him feel about himself and his place in the world
He clearly had some issues surrounding attachment to an identity that wasn't a variation of straight, despite describing a very bisexual sexual past, with partners of both sexes and, with a femme-leaning presentation, *but not necessarily a gender-identity leaning preference*
We spoke about all sorts, and he went from "nah I'm straight" even though he said he found certain men attractive, to "you know what it doesn't matter!" in the space of 10 minutes.
I don't think we get that conversation done that quickly if I don't break down that "I'm straight, but" barrier.
No one is "straight, but" - they are bi, or pan or gay or whatever. "Straight, but" isn't sexually hetero, it's socially hetero. Culturally hetero.
Because of my background - I have a larger following of cis people, as a percentage, than most trans people; and more importantly: I know how to talk to them to get them to be honest about themselves, and quickly make progress.
To the complainers:
Not everything is about you. Stop looking for opportunities to be offended within the community over bullshit like this. It's not like we are short of stuff we can focus our attention on. 1/2
I am a full advocate for inclusion. End of. Some of you need to learn the difference between rightful inclusion & just "not getting a fully representative shout-out in a hypothetical example on Twitter"
Grow up. We've got real problems to deal with. That affects ALL of us.
2/2
Behave.

After a bit of a run of hen names - We have a sponsor for our first Rooster 🐓
When hatched, and reared, he shall be dubbed: "Mr. Chicken"
He'll be fancy. I just know it. Gunna have to get him muscular arms 3-d printed for the content.
If you want to sponsor a chicken by picking its name, and help me set up my little urban farming project near #Glasgow - then please get in contact for details of how.
