The phenomenon of people faking being ill for attention on social media is not new to many. I have encountered people faking attempts, claiming to be in accidents etc. However, when it comes to faking a comatose state, the stakes are much higher.
Coma, also known as a state of prolonged unconsciousness, is a serious medical condition that requires extensive care and attention from medical professionals. Therefore, the idea of someone pretending to be in a comatose state is alarming.
I will talk about the case of a Hadeer or Had (@avanunice) who pretended to be in a comatose state for a few days, her earlier attempt at faking illness and comatose state, the motives behind their actions, and the lessons that can be learned from this bizarre situation.
Initially, I did not delve into this situation. However, a concerned individual drew my attention to the fact that certain aspects of the note shared by Ari (@/blasphemusdeus) on Twitter on March 17, 2023, appeared suspicious for several reasons.
The misspelling of the ECG equipment (referred to as "EGC" in the note) and the context in which it was mentioned constitute the primary reason for concern.
ECG monitoring is a crucial measurement of vital signs performed in hospital intensive care units and is considered a standard practice in modern medicine. To put it simply, ECG monitoring refers to the use of a heart monitor.
However, in Had's sister's note, not only was the name misspelled, but it was also portrayed as a last resort or final option for Had, which raises doubts.
The appropriate monitor to mention in this case would have been an EEG. An EEG is a diagnostic test that detects irregularities in brain waves or the electrical activity of the brain. It can offer valuable insights into the underlying cause and potential outcomes of a coma.
The condition of being comatose is highly complex. The longer a patient remains in a comatose state, the lower their chances are of recovery, and the higher the likelihood of them entering a vegetative state.
By the third day, the probability of making a moderate or substantial recovery drops to just 7% and by the fourteenth day, it can be as low as 2%. Within the first week, nearly half of the patients who have not regained consciousness are likely to have entered a vegetative state.
This information is sourced from "The Prognosis of Medical Coma," authored by Dr. David Bates of the Department of Neurology at the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle upon Tyne, UK.
According to the public note, Hadeer entered a comatose state on March 17th and regained consciousness on March 23rd. This would imply that her chances of making a substantial recovery were less than 7%.
However, it's worth noting that this information is based solely on public knowledge, and it's possible that Hadeer's sister may have informed her friend of her condition even earlier than March 17th.
Moving on to the next topic, as previously mentioned in the introduction, Hadeer has a history of feigning illness and pretending to be in a comatose state. Hadeer is a known enthusiast of several fandoms, including "Legends of Tomorrow".
During my investigation, it came to my attention that a similar situation occurred within the "Legends of Tomorrow" fandom in 2021, where an individual named Hadeer also claimed to be in a comatose state.
The previous situation began in a similar manner, with Hadeer's sister sharing a message on the account @/Captain_Lotz, stating that the account owner had been in an accident and was in a comatose state on October 17th, 2021.
The included screenshots will enable you to view the chronological order of those previous events yourself.
Upon comparing the initial message from October 2021 to a subsequent note that Hadeer's (@avanunice) sister sent to Ari, you'll notice that the writing style, use of emojis, and capitalization/grammar errors are nearly indistinguishable.
It's understandable that I cannot make any accusations or confirmations solely based on this information. Therefore, I will present some evidence that links Hadeer #1 (@/Captain_Lotz) and Hadeer #2 (@avanunice).
As evidenced by both the tweet from Hadeer #1 (@/Captain_Lotz) account and a publicly shared screenshot of Adrienne’s (@/ufcfan4life2) conversation with Hadeer #2 (@avanunice) on discord, it is widely known that both Hadeers are cinematic musicians.
Moving on to Instagram, let's take a look at the account named hadeermusic, belonging to a composer of cinematic original soundtracks.
By examining the list of accounts she follows and those who follow her, it becomes apparent that she follows many individuals involved in the #SaveWarriorNun campaign, and in turn, they also follow her.
By analyzing the mutual following and followers of @/hadeermusic, it becomes evident that this account belongs to Hadeer #2 (@avanunice). Upon examining the tagged posts of @/hadeermusic, I find only one post in which she is tagged, and it originates from a BTS-related account.
One of the accounts mentioned in the tag alongside @/hadeermusic is @/taedeir. After conducting further investigation, it becomes clear that the owner of the @/taedeir account is also named Hadeer.
Therefore, it would be reasonable to assume that @/taedeir and @/hadeermusic are the same person. Upon examining the hashtags followed by @/taedeir, I notice that she follows many Legends of Tomorrow-related tags, including hashtags for the show's characters and actors.
Given the identical interests and fandom shared by taedeir (hadeermusic) and Captain_Lotz, as well as the resemblance in writing style, content, and coma experience, it would be presumptuous to assert that Hadeer #1 (Captain_Lotz) and Hadeer #2 (@avanunice) are the same person.
Overall, this situation is very daunting and hard to wrap your head around. I know this can come as shocking news but it is important to stay vigilant on issues surrounding heavy topics, sadly this happens a lot.
You can’t blame yourself for being trusting as it is in our nature to trust news that holds such weight. I want to make it clear that no hate goes towards Hadeer, rather a concern for their mental well-being.
People who fake diseases like she did are always dealing with a mental disorder that causes them to act that way. So I urge Hadeer, if you are reading this, to seek professional psychiatric help.
I know the world can feel impossible to navigate but that doesn’t mean you should prey on trusting people. Keep trusting, just make sure you don’t trust the wrong people.
