Venues:
Stats for IPL/T20i matches only. Small sample size an issue, so data is a bit noisy.
- Mohali, Chinnaswamy, Eden Gardens & Wankhede seem to be the best batting pitches, others can be hit & miss
- Chepauk notoriously spin friendly
- Hyderabad & Jaipur can be tricky.

Pant injury is a huge loss but plenty of other teams have also lost key players. Can't rule them out.

Last year's winners - probably won't be the most entertaining to watch but should be relatively effective again. Top order needs to be better.

An already flawed squad - made some interesting purchases between seasons. Many have awarded them the wooden spoon award but there's a few match winners in the XI.

A well-rounded top 5, with the stability of KL Rahul should keep them competitive in most games. Will the bowling cope in the absence of Mohsin Khan? Still look like top 4 contenders.

No Bairstow, letting Agarwal and question marks over Livi's fitness leaves their top four looking a bit timid. Bowling is more well-rounded this year, can it compensate for a drop off in batting quality?

Another team that's suffered an injury to a key bowler. Should have enough resources to cope and have recruited smartly in the domestic market, look well-placed to finish in the top 4 again.

Have improving results papered over some of the cracks in recent seasons? Still a decent but older squad, with lots of injury issues - Hazlewood, Maxwell, Patidar. Need more contributions from big players in the squad.

Seem to be one of the favourite teams on twitter. Some good batting additions, paired with a solid core of domestic batting options makes them look competitive. Will they make the right decisions with their XI?
