-Start at 1g/day and titrate up pending tolerance (diarrhea is only concern)
Omega 3s

-Helps reduce muscle loss

-Reduce systemic inflammation

-Speeds up collagen synthesis

-5g/day. Studies suggest even up to 15g
Zinc

-Improves wound healing, tissue repair and growth

-Picolinate or bisglycinate

-50mg/day

-Pair with copper
Creatine

-Attenuates muscle loss

-Reverse tendon deterioration

-5-10g/day (5g if under 200lbs, 10g if over)
Glucosamine

-Helps promote tendon, ligament, cartilage growth

-Reduce joint wear and tear

-Studies show improved joint motion vs a placebo at 1.5g/day
Magnesium

-Reduce oxidative stress

-Collagen synthesis

-Regulates connective tissue healing

-A million other bodily functions

-Start at 600mg/day and titrate up
L Citrulline/Arginine

-Use one or both

-Nitric oxide precursor ➡️ fracture healing

-Improved circulation ➡️ better systemic healing

-9g/day
Collagen

-Supplementing leads to 20% increase in collagen synthesis

-Tendon healing

-20-30g/day
Bonus : Bone Healing

-Vitamin K: Shuttles calcium to bones ➡️ 100mcg/day

-Boron: Improved calcium and magnesium retention ➡️ 6-12mg/day

-Inositol: Calcium absorption ➡️ 2g/day
Double Bonus: Peptides/Drugs

✔️ BPC-157

✔️ TB500

✔️ HGH
BPC-157

-Angiogenesis (formation of new blood vessels)

-Collagen formation

-More site specific

-250mcg/day
TB500

-Angiogenesis

-Cell migration and proliferation (increase in number of cells)

-More systemic in nature

-2-5mg twice a week, separated by 3.5 days
HGH

-Cell proliferation

-Increase IGF-1

-IGF-1 accelerates tendon healing/growth

-1-2iu/day

❗ Achilles's Tendon❗

Short thread

How is it commonly ruptured?

Who is at highest risk?

How do you know if it's torn?

👇
The Achilles tendon will tear when it is stretched beyond it's capacity

This occurs when:

✅ A forceful jump occurs
✅ Sudden pivot occurs
✅ Sudden acceleration
Those highest at risk are weekend warriors

Typically occurs in men over 30

So get in shape before you start a weekend pickle ball league

Getting progressively stronger is an important part of rehab and injury prevention. But I guess some people don’t get it.

Learn why most PTs don't get rehab right and what do do better below.
The biggest issue I see in rehab is prescribing easy exercises (4 way ankle with a band, clamshells) for too long

Not that there is anything wrong with these exercises; there is a time and a place for these very early in rehab.
The problem is when clinicians fail to progress past these as if its enough to prepare athletes for competition

I don't know if people don't understand tissue adaptation to rehab, they are lazy or both

What is a Tau protein?

Simply put, they are proteins that are found in neurons and provide stability and keeps the internal skeleton of neurons together

A shortage of these inside the neurons decreases brain function
Accumulation of Tau proteins outside the cell promotes brain cell damage death

And how might these Tau proteins end up outside the neuron?

Brain injury such as a concussion

Have you ever felt a pop in your knee only to look down and see your knee cap on the side of your knee?

If so, this thread is for you

Breaking down a patella dislocation today Image
First off, a patella and a knee dislocation are not the same thing

A knee dislocation is a traumatic, limb threatening emergency

A patella is not
Quick definitions:

A dislocation is when any bone is forced out of its socket and stays out

A subluxation is when a bone is forced out but goes back in on its own

Both injure the same structures but a dislocation lends itself to more trauma
