A #TedLasso editing 🧵about my favorite 303. Richmond's win streak montage was 20 scenes and a joyful creative puzzle. Jason wrote index cards and we cut the story to flow to the classic tune by Adriano Celentano’s Prisencolinensinainciusol. All gibberish but All Right!
Each stack of cards is a new day in the montage, color coded by themes. A great storytelling tool when the show's so-called "final rewrite" happens in the editing room at WB studios. 💜🎞️🎬
After auditioning several cues, Jesus Christ Superstar became the perfect needledrop for Zava as a soccer God among mortals. The bicycle kick shot is an homage to Pele’s bicycle kick in “Escape to Victory” - and Zava is “like Pele. If every letter was different!” 💜⚽️
I'm a huge JC Superstar fan, I've listened to the Webber/Rice original cast album since I was a kid. My mind is blown when we cut to Rupert @AnthonySHead during this song, sung by his brother Murray Head as Judas. Some magic synchronicity that gets discovered in editing!
Speaking of JCS, a personal Easter egg in team meditation scene. We brainstormed what goes on locker room TV. Zava would play a zen video, like a waterfall? When I was in Costa Rica I took this iPhone video of the most beautiful Nauyaca Falls. Perhaps Zava climbed it? 😉 Ohm! 🧘
It is an honor and privilege to edit #TedLasso, to see all the hard work of creators, writers, producers, directors, a skilled crew and amazing cast performances. All that love flows into the editing sessions with Jason. I am so proud to share what is ahead for #TedLassoSeason3
And a talented team of artists at @DigitalFilmTree and @Barnstorm_VFX create the visual effects that make the soccer stadiums come to life. And so many other shots. It’s an invisible art.
