My spot on @talktv with @THEJamesWhale and @virtualash last night was a bit frustrating. I had a lot to say and James likes to clown around. I leaned into that a bit and stopped being serious but I hope I still got in the way of these nonsense stories they keep pedalling 1/7
James continues to be belligerent toward me and uses very lazy talking points straight out of the gutter press. Rather that see me as a human being he thinks of me as a representative of an irrational force. Tells me off for vaping lol
I pull them up on media transphobia and @JuliaHB1's relentless attacks on the idea of gender identity and the over all climate of fear they are transmitting into the public domain.
Then they introduce a caller who seems to have trouble articulating something about prisons. Another performative argument which trans people are drawn into because we have to challenge these morally duplicitous media messages constantly!
I put it to James and Ash that the story only exists to make trans women seem like a societal threat and there is no real concern for vulnerable women- It is political leverage from Whitehall lobby groups.
James then has the temerity to ask why trans people are angry and he does not like the answer. so he cuts me off. Its all performance for James, obviously but these are real peoples lives he is talking about and they influence opinion..... (my eyes roll)
Just as caveat -this is the kind of opinion that @TalkTV embolden and encourage. James knows this and only then does he say anything remotely reasonable. So we finally get support for trans people. I win -they lose. They didnt even notice l was wearing a Kellie Keen T shirt lol
