🚨 Leicester part ways with Brendan Rodgers by "mutual agreement" after four years.

Rodgers won the 2021 FA Cup, and had two seasons challenging for top four. But he leaves #LCFC in the relegation zone.

Adam Sadler and Mike Stowell will take interim charge.
🗣️ Leicester City chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha: "The achievements of the team under Brendan’s management speak for themselves – we’ve experienced some of our finest footballing moments under his guidance and will always be grateful to him and his staff...
"Brendan embraced the culture of the Club and helped cultivate an outstanding developmental environment, particularly during the transition to Seagrave, and provided strong leadership during the unprecedented challenge of the pandemic. His place in #LCFC history is assured...
"However, performances and results during the current season have been below our shared expectations... with 10 games of the season remaining, the Board is compelled to take alternative action to protect our Premier League status."
It wouldn't surprise me if Spurs consider Rodgers despite his record with Leicester this season. Although other candidates, Rodgers has always been admired. by Daniel Levy.

🗣️ On speaking to the owners. "I spoke to them. They have been really supportive. I am focused on tomorrow then after that step by step."

Bit more on Graham Potter's sacking. Line in the statement on a "smooth transition" is a reference to the parting being amicable (as much as a sacking can be) and some of Potter's staff remaining on, at least until a permanent manager is appointed. Image
There has been a lot of back and forth. The prevailing view earlier in the day (as reported! 😅) was Potter would stay on for Liverpool. The club even sent out a release about his pre-match press conference. But things changed rapidly following further internal talks.
The decision was led by Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart with Potter informed by mid-afternoon. Behdad Eghbali also present in London, but Todd Boehly is in America. Discussions thus had to factor in that time difference.

🚨 Graham Potter has been sacked by Chelsea. Very unexpected and fast-moving development based on this morning. All happened very quickly. It was anticipated he'd manage against Liverpool, but things moved quickly and Potter is now gone.
Bruno Salter will take interim charge and Potter will help with "a smooth transition".
🗣️ Boehly & Eghbali: "We want to thank Graham sincerely for his contribution to Chelsea. We have the highest degree of respect for Graham as a coach and as a person. He has always conducted himself with professionalism and integrity and we are all disappointed in this outcome...

🗣 More from my chat with Jean-Michel Aulas. Says John Textor’s arrival has put a new emphasis on the multi-club model, but it hasn’t affected his role at Lyon.

“Nothing has changed for now because it’s a medium to long-term investment. Club governance is the same and I remain… twitter.com/i/web/status/1… Image
“Our strategic reflections have changed, though. We have four clubs: Botafogo, Crystal Palace, Molenbeek and Lyon. We are thinking medium term over the next two or three years. But for now, John Textor’s arrival has not brought major changes…
“The multi-club model is important to this investor and investment. Our clubs have complemetary factors. We have developed one of Europe's top footballing schools in Lyon. There is also the Pele school which will be opening near Botafogo…

🗣️ Thomas Tuchel speaks passionately on #CFC sacking. "It was a kind of a shock. It was an unusual and very short meeting at eight o'clock the morning after the Champions League game [against Zagreb]. It was a 3-5 minute meeting. I was also not in the mood to talk longer... Image
"We had the feeling we were in the right spot at the right time to achieve big things and stay longer. We had big relationships, huge relationships, within the staff. We still do. How long did it take to get over it? It still hurts not to see these people on a daily basis...
"I've said it before, I love this job. I have the passion. The week here [at Bayern] was very demanding but there's no funnier place than a dressing room and a football staff. It has so much love, so much joy, so many good jokes. That is what I have missed the most...

🗣️ Potter on Anthony Barry. "Anthony is in discussions [with Bayern]. He's not with us at the moment. It's best whilst things get resolved. At the moment there's nothing to report."
