It’s a sad Reality that those who shines the brightest, ends the fastest.

A story of a man who’d say

“He who feeds you, controls you”

"We must choose either champagne for a few or safe drinking water for all”

~Thomas Ankara~

🪡Thread🧵

Thomas Sankara ruled Burkina Faso
from 1983-87. As President, he lowered his salary to only $450 a month and limited his possessions to a car, four bikes, three guitars, a fridge and a broken freezer. He refused to use the air conditioning in his office on the grounds that such luxury was not available to anyone.
Formerly Upper Volta, Sankara renamed his country Burkina Faso , not only as a departure from the nation's French colonial past but importantly a rebirth, as Burkina Faso meant “Land of the upright people”. He also composed the national anthem and designed the national flag all
by himself. He practiced very austere fiscal policies such as selling off the government fleet of Mercedes cars and made the Renault 5 (the cheapest car sold in Burkina Faso at that time) the official service car of the ministers. He reduced the salaries of all public servants,
including his own, and forbade the use of government chauffeurs and 1st class airline tickets. Also sold off the president's official jet and attached flights with neighboring Presidents so to save the taxpayer on fuel.

He shunned Foreign Aid including from the Soviet Union,
kept his country far from IMF and World bank. Which was the foundation of his quote, “He who feeds you controls you”. Yet sankara still succeeded in making his country food sufficient. He took the excess wealth of the rich and redistributed to the poor.

Burkina Faso is a
landlocked sahel country and needed a lot of trees, Sankara did his part leading a national effort to plant one million trees as part of his green revolution.

He cut all ties with France and also refused to pay post colonial reparations to Paris.

Sankara became the biggest
threat France had ever faced to its neo-colonialist control of large regions of Africa, so they took action.

On October 15,1987, Sankara was assassinated by agents of imperialism in coup plot orchestrated by France and was led by his very close military associate and ally,
Blaise Campaore, who led the early military coup that instilled Sankara back in 1983.

Campaore prevented Sankara’s body from being exhumed for years after his death. At the end of campaore rule in 2014, late Sankara body was exhumed by 2015, and 13 bullets were pulled out of his
remains. it was found in an autopsy that the bullets were puzzled around his body.

"The media is disgusting. When Rooney, Beckham, Lampard and Gerrard went to America, they used to say that it was a great way to end their career, What a way to finish their careers, getting
great money, going to a league that's not as competitive, let them go, they've deserved that, they've earned the right. That’s all I saw in the media. But when Cristiano Ronaldo decided to do this, it became a shame and a disaster only because he went to Saudi Arabia."
"I'm pleased for him that he's finally happy. For any footballer, whatever level you're playing in, happiness and being happy in the environment you're playing in is one of the most important things. He hasn't been happy for a while, so I'm pleased he's on the verge of finding

Most disturbing facts that most people are unaware of.

The human body contains enough fat to make seven bars of soap, enough iron to make a 3-inch nail, and enough carbon to make 900 pencils.

Here's a bonus list of some other rather disturbing facts:

~ There is a disease
called "alien hand syndrome" where patients experience movements in their limbs that they cannot control and feel as though the limb is acting on its own.

~ A rare condition called "cotard's syndrome" causes individuals to believe they are dead, leading to a loss of interest in
food, self-care, and other activities.

~ There is a species of ant known as the "slave-making ant" that raids the nests of other ant species, stealing their eggs and raising the young as theirs.

~ Cockroaches can live for several weeks without their heads.

A 4year old called 911:

“I need help. What is sixteen minus eight?”

The four-year-old boy, when told by his mother to call the number 911 if in need of help, took it a bit too seriously.😂😂

Confused over his math homework, he picked up the phone,
and dialed 911. Hoping to get a lesson in “take aways (subtraction)”, it quickly became a hilarious moment.

The operator, initially confused, first dismissed it as a prank call, but he starts the conversation anyway. Then, he heard the kid’s mother in the background, saying
“Johnny, what do you think you’re doing?”

His reply to his mother:

“The policeman is helping me with my math. You said if I needed help, I should call 911.”

The mother, sightly embarassed, said, “I didn’t mean the police.”

A recording of the conversation was posted on

Elephants are completely exposed to the sun in one of the most hostile environments in the world.
They have almost no visible body hair.
And yet they have a very, very low rate of skin cancer. This is because they have extra copies of the cancer-fighting genes P53.
These genes are what activate the policing of their cells, the removal of cancerous cells that could replicate and kill the animal.
P53 literally is a hunter-killer for cells that cause tumors in the body. It senses, and then deletes that cancer from an elephant's body.
This is one, of a few reasons, that elephants are one of the longest living animals in the animal kingdom, capable of living 70 years.
And as an aside, the reason their memories are so good? They migrate often and memorize all the best water spots.

Victor Noir.

Perhaps more famous for his death and grave than work. He was a journalist who was shot dead; his grave consists of a full-sized bronze statue of the man laying down as if he was just shot.
The statue became a fertility symbol - the story says those who kiss the statue on the lips, leave a flower in Victor’s hat and rub the genital area will find themselves with enhanced fertility, a great sex life or find a husband within one year.

The flamethrower was a hazardous weapon of war to its operator.

It was by far the most hazardous. Mortality rate of 92% for all flamethrower units. Estimated time of survival 4 minutes.

You’re aware that you’re not likely going to survive unlike others who may be harm but
could survive. But for you, you’re well aware that ur weapon will kill you painfully.

Back then at time of world wars, even at home, in hospital, fire injuries were usually fatal because they just didn’t have the tech to help. Antibiotics were not as efficient back then.
People are often expected to die at home from a fire injury if severe enough, however from the flames of a flamethrower(which is even far hotter) in a barren wasteland full of dead rotting corpses? You had infection from fire burns due to operation of flamethrower, and
