The fic starts with Nai actually being successful in impregnating Vash (and only Vash) but he isn’t aware of it. The second Vash is impregnated, he instantly ejects him from the higher dimension and closes the portal.
He is still so out of it with broken memories and a damaged body, so he unconsciously acts on instincts he doesn't know or understand.
His roots sprout into a kind of "tree" where he can recover inside and protect himself and his little sprout.

Vash's mind is caught in his gate, a copy of the garden he and Nai grew up in.

Nai can't break through the roots, any damage he inflicts on the roots holding Vash heal before he even finished hacking into them. He is forced to watch the tree inside the aquatic tank, with nothing he can do to reach his brother.

One day his sisters start humming, (like they did in the episode) and the flower in his garden starts to finally bloom, and a little baby is waiting for him inside of it.

The shock of it all finally puts Vash's scrambled memories back into place, and he jerks awake.
He is still surrounded by the roots/trees, floating in the water. And realizes not two seconds later that he is about to give birth.

Vash takes some time to recover and escapes with his baby through the tree. The tree is still from him, but no longer connected to him. It's just a normal tree that is connected to the planet and not Vash anymore.
He manipulates the roots to make an escape route all the way outside the city and runs away with his baby. (Maybe trying to find a safe place to raise the baby and reconnect with Wolfwood and Meryl)
Nai constantly has someone supervising the tree in case anything changes.
When Vash gives birth, his power spikes drastically from the stress, and Nai attempts to get to Vash again, only to get pinned to the tank by Vash's roots.

After Vash gave birth, disconnected from the tree, and left, the energy level dropped significantly, and Nai is scared that Vash burned out as so many of their sisters did before...
He is completely unaware that Vash is running away from the city.
As he hovers in front of the place Vash used to rest in, he is filled with dread and afraid of what happened to his twin...

Some of the roots of the tree have branched out more and, eventually, show the place Vash was resting in.
It's completely empty.
Nai isn't sure if Vash somehow escaped or if he became one with the tree...

A few days later, Nai is out to retrieve another dying plant from an ungrateful human town. And guess who he runs into.

A big fight ensues because Nai is enraged that he mourned for his brother while he was once again outside playing human.
At some point, he has Vash by the neck, pinned to the building.
Suddenly his hand gets cut by a metal object (not sure if I want their child to have metal feathers similar to how knives wing looks like or maybe rose pedals?)

Nai can hear Vash gasp and feel the way his heart starts racing. He turns around and sees them.

Vash goes feral and bites and claws away until Nai lets him go out of surprise.
He immediately hides the child behind him and points his gun at Nai with a trembling hand.

Nai manages to hack through the tree because he is so afraid that Vash is burning up all his energy as their sisters did.
Eventually, he finds his twin passed out with his markings pulsing a gentle light blue.
And carefully wrapped up in his red coat is a newborn child.

Nai hacks open the roots because he is afraid that Vash is burning up all his energy and dying like his sisters, but actually succeeds.
Vash is still giving birth, and he is in so much pain that he claws at Nai.

Vash looks like some kind of demon, wing glowing bright with claws and long teeth biting and fighting Nai.
Nai deflects his attacks, still scared to attack Vash until he realizes what is happening.

He protectively wraps his wing around his twin and attempts to calm him down.
After a lot of biting and shoving, Vash curls his own wing over Nai’s, and they form a cocoon of feathers.

Nai helps Vash give birth like that. Curled up with Nai while he coos reassurances to him, wiping the tears off his cheeks and telling him "listen to your instincts, trust your body, Vash"
Nai catches their child and for just one moment Vash is deathly afraid he is going to take his child from him. He looks up at Vash with tears in his eyes and so much love that he instantly relaxes.
They stay in their cocoon for a few days, giving Vash some time to recover from the birth and Nai some much-needed time with his twin. It’s dark in their feathery cocoon, save for their glowing plant markings and their wings.
Surprisingly, it's Vash who breaks the day-long silence between the two...
"What now?"
"We are going to raise them, of course"
And they slowly unfurl their wing and Nai gently guides them out of the tank.
