1/ ChatGPT has limited memory. It forgets details if your chat runs beyond ~8k words.

But Shogtongue lets you extend conversations by 5-10x easily

Here’s how: Image
2/ First: @gfodor's Shogtongue is ingenious.
It’s almost debasing it to use it for literal compression.

imagine: some genius harnessed microwave electromagnetic radiation
--now we use it to reheat day-old pizza Image
3/ After you've had a long chat,
ask GPT-4 to compress all of it
into its own weird language.

--where did it learn this language from?! Image
4/ Open a new GPT-4.
Give it the compressed message
and a bit of English context.

Shoggoth purists might give it only the shogtongue input.

But I like to help GPT out.

And there you go! You can now keep chatting for almost another ~8k tokens Image
5/ It’s still experimental.

-GPT-3.5 doesn’t work
-even GPT-4 via API struggles
-GPT-4 via ChatGPT is what works for me.

If it doesn’t work perfectly, that’s because we’re still discovering it right now. It’s exciting. Image
6/ PS. you can use it to have months-long
interactive journaling and review sessions

with learnings from months' worth of weekly reviews
—that’s what originally got me writing this thread.

Have fun. Let me know if you work out tweaks on the compression!
That's a wrap!

1/ ChatGPT can help anyone code

but sometimes it gets stuck
repeatedly giving you code chunks
that don’t work.

Here’s a simple fix: Image
2/ Show it your error message

BUT DON’T ask for a solution!

Instead: Image
3/ Ask what additional info it needs from you.

Most people think ChatGPT can’t produce wisdom.

But they've never tried *challenging themselves* with GPT.

Here’s how to use ChatGPT to learn the life lessons you’ve been avoiding:

-
1. Select your panel:

Chose mentors you’d actually listen to

across important areas of your life:

- health
- relationships
- career
2. Specify the output format.

- be specific

ChatGPT’s writing feels mediocre.

But it’s easy for GPT to help us write with our unique and personal spark.

Here’s a simple way:
1. Ask ChatGPT to generate a list of industry/discipline specific conventional wisdoms: Image
2. Choose the ones where you operate differently.

- How and why do you disagree?

- What results have you gotten by behaving differently?
