I have no idea how coherent this idea is but I'm typing it before mind wanders off into Dissociation Land *again*.
So.
Endgame #sangyao that starts off pretty bad. Huaisang has a crush on Meng Yao, his tutor, but his confession gets shot down. (Meng Yao tries to be gentle
about it, but a series of related miscommunications result in Huaisang being pretty crushed and he stops going to the extra lessons at all.)
They end up avoiding each other long enough that Meng Yao graduates and moves on (I have no idea what time period this is in, but it has
like actual school classes whenever it is).
They lose touch for years and when they cross paths again, Huaisang is in really bad shape (either his health has taken a turn for the worse or he ran away from home... or both... or something else. Whatever it is, Mingjue is still
alive and trying to sort out the mess but having a hard time with it).
Immediately concerned by Huaisang's condition, Meng Yao coaxes him into accepting care.
And he starts finding that the more this broken, exhausted, miserable Huaisang depends on him, the more he... kind of
*likes* being the caregiver.
So he has to deal with what kind of person it makes him that he wasn't interested in a relationship at all when they were both on somewhat even footing, but he's interested now that Huaisang *needs* him.

semi-incoherent endgame-sangyao sexy-curse-gone-horribly-wrong whump idea that appeared in a dream. thread or no thread?
here we go!
(warnings: very little effort has been made to make this any more logical than i dreamed it, also mentions of self-abusive language, disordered eating, implied hallucinations, and... i think that's the worst of the unpleasant stuff?)
So!
Using my usual sort of frankencanon, Nie Huaisang and Meng Yao knew each other before the war. Huaisang is currentl living among the Nie war tents, and though he's not doing anything "important," as far as the battles go, he's helping out the medical crews and not getting

The Undying Sun slowly paced around the small figure writhing against the bonds holding him up and the collar that was sealing itself to his skin.
Stopping, he reached
out and pressed his fingertips to the large jade centerpiece of it, activating the small array carved into the stone.
"I hate seeing you in such misery, little bird," he crooned soothingly in response to the gag-muffled screech the second half of the spell drew from his victim.
"But you've forced my hand. If you can't behave on your own, then you need... *help.*"
With one final lash of spiritual power, the struggling body went limp against the bindings and all of the talismans and arrays went dark.

The snake yao was bigger than him, but also more slow moving and much dumber. Once Zhuzhi-lang had finished biting it
full of holes and then tearing it to fine shreds, he abandoned the corpse and rushed back over to the human curled up on the ground.
Nie Huaisang's breathing had started to turn into shallow, desperate gulps for air and sweat was pouring from his skin even as he shivered.
The area around his neck and shoulder had turned a disgusting purple-green-black color with spreading threads of black where the venom had leeched under his skin.
Seeing it, Zhuzhi-lang momentarily wished he'd made the yao suffer longer. But no, that would have cut the time they

Though he still had to keep quiet enough not to draw attention to himself, Mo Xuanyu made his way through the halls as quickly as he could.
Even though Nie-xiong always forgave him when it happened, he *hated*
it whenever his... his *"lessons"* made him late for their usual appointment for tea.
And it wasn't just for the fact that meeting with Nie-xiong meant much more food than he usually got for a meal. He genuinely adored Nie-xiong's company, and Nie-xiong genuinely seemed to like
him as well.
*Him!*
Red-faced, and not just from having to cross the grounds of Koi-tower so quickly, he skidded to a halt in front of Nie-xiong's guest room and knocked.
"Come in," came the reply from inside.
Nie-xiong's voice sounded weirdly thin and exhausted, and

Even at the distance he'd been standing, the shockwave of the blast had been enough to nearly knock him off his feet. As he regained his balance and looked around at the smoke and debris and wounded
and disoriented cultivators picking themselves up off the ground, he felt his stomach start to sink.
Nie Huaisang had been much closer to the center of the explosion, almost enough to take it point blank.
Where-
Using some spiritual power to help clear the smoke, he inhaled
sharply through his teeth when he saw Nie Huaisang -disheveled, filthy, and clearly injured, but *alive*- struggling to push himself into a sitting position.
He didn't remember even crossing the room. One moment he had spotted his sometimes-partner, the next he was gripping a

The plan had seemed sound when it was made.
The younger disciples would use flares to drive the creature into the clearing where he and the older disciples were waiting, and then he would use Zidian to snare
it so the disciples would have an easier time to kill it.
And, at first, everything had gone as expected.
What they hadn't been expecting was how much the creature could still thrash even in Zidian's coils.
What they hadn't been expecting was that one of the juniors would
attempt to help kill it faster by flinging one of the unused flares at it.
And what they *definitely* hadn't expected was that the combination of the two would send the lit flare directly at *Nie Huaisang*, who had attempted to dodge it only to be struck in the back, igniting
