I just heard about a @moniepointng POS machine theft-scam. It happened to my neighbor last Friday.
So this woman sells wristwatches and other electrical appliances, also runs a POS business by the side. On this fateful day, this young man yet to be identified walks in....
He initially does a transfer of 900 naira to an account Hayzed Consult which was successful. Thereafter he proceeds to request for different items which were not immediately within the reach of the shop owner, so she had to go inside the to retrieve those items.... 2
Meanwhile she had her suspicion that he was up to something, so stylishly cleared valuable items off her table as she went inside. She gives him the items he requested for and after price haggle, he ends up not buying, she quickly checks her table to ascertain of nothing.... 3
was amiss, when satisfied, she sat back relaxed. Her two POS machines were intact on the table or so she thought. It was minutes after he left, when a customer came to do a POS transaction, that she discovered that she couldn't login into the Moniepoint POS. She got disturbed..4
Called her fellow POS operator nearby to ask if it was a general problem, but discovered it wasn't. Still unsure of what might have happened, it was then she got a debit alert of #23,000 on her phone. The money was transferred from the "POS machine" that she was holding... 5
How did this happen, she wondered? Further findings revealed what truly transpired. The guy had swapped her Moniepoint POS machine with another Moniepoint POS machine which belonged to a certain Hayzed Consults, the same account he transferred the initial #900 to... 6
He then dropped the same POS machine with her, and left. It was from her own POS terminal (Timileyin Horological) that he then transferred the sum of 23,000 naira to another Moniepoint POS account (UniqueBissy Nig Ltd). This seems like a crime perpetrated by someone... 7
who has previously worked with Moniepoint and has technical experience in resetting and logging into customer accounts without their login details. POS agents should be careful and vigilant. @PIDOMNIGERIA@DavidHundeyin
Update
The owner of the POS that was swapped for my neighbor's POS was contacted using the transaction trail on the POS. Apparently, it's the same MO. One guy sits in the Napep waiting for his colleague to strike, then they zoom off immediately they swap the POS

On the 20th of September, 2022. NDLEA made the biggest drug seizure in Nigeria history. The drugs weighing 1.8 tonnes seized was worth 194 billion naira. @DavidHundeyin@PIDOMNIGERIA
6 days later, Tinubu "bumps" into the NDLEA chairman in Abuja coincidentally.
In an unprecedented move, just 24 hours after this visit. NDLEA decides to "destroy" the drugs without concluding investigation. A complete deviation from the Modus Operandi. Buba Marwa says, this is a special case. Hmmmm @harryofido@firstladyship
