Let me tell you about the 2007 gang rape of madrasa minor students in Kareli

This is a horrifying incident. Two madrassa students were allegedly dragged away from inside the institution and gang-raped by half-a-dozen youths claiming to be policemen in the Kareli police circle. This incident took place on Wednesday evening.

The culprits forced their way into the madrasa premises and assaulted the watchman before pouncing on the terrified girls.

What's even more disturbing is that the local Bisauna police not only refused to lodge a rape case against them but also threatened the madarsa manager to keep quiet despite the victims' demand to undergo a medical examination to prove their allegation.

The incident happened at Madarsa Jamait-Us-Salehat, owned by Waliullah, an accused in the Varanasi blasts, at Bisauna Road. Waliullah's brother Wasiullah is the manager of the madarsa. The institution caters to the education of girls only.

The miscreants spent some time molesting the girl inmates and threatening them with dire consequences if they raised their voices. They even warned them not to tell anyone about the incident. It's shocking that the police did not bother to lodge a formal FIR in connection +

with the incident till late on Thursday evening. Despite repeated claims of the victims, they were not taken for medical examination. Wasiullah also alleged that the police had forced him not to mention rape in his complaint.

The victims have left the madrasa apparently on the advice of the local police.
