📌I am deeply, deeply disappointed in this #DominionvFox settlement.
📌As a career journalist, I hate Murdoch, his disgusting network, and the ghouls it employs with every, single fiber of my soul. The stain they have left on my profession will never wash out.
<more>
📌Since launching his attack on America by standing up his Fox propaganda outlet in 1996, the Australian-born Murdoch and his wretched team of cancerous carnival-barking hyenas have blown more hot air across this planet than all the stinking, coal-burning factories combined.
📌We KNOW Fox didn't believe the nuclear-grade crap they were doling out to their millions of viewers in the wake of the election. They continued anyway, though, worried they might lose an audience who they had made fat and unhappy over the decades.
📌Fox filled their plates with heaping helpings of daily, rightwing bullshit seasoned with plenty of outrage.
📌One Fox Vice President called Trump’s lies “mind blowingly nuts.” Murdoch himself called them “really crazy” and “terrible stuff.”
📌When shortly after the election, Fox briefly left the MAGA Reservation and started loudly hinting that Trump’s election-fraud claims were so disgraceful that even they wouldn’t serve them, they quickly found that their audience wasn’t much interested in a steady diet of truth.
📌Fox propaganda viewers and were already running off to whatever upstart, radical, rightwing propaganda network they could sink their dentures into.
📌Well, this was no way to run a fast-fool, propaganda outlet ...
📌Fearing a significant loss of revenue, Murdoch’s team turned on a dime and once again began eagerly cooking up and selling the raw sewage Trump and his gang of cancerous louts were spinning about the election they lost by more than seven million votes.
📌So Dominion sued the shit out of them.
📌Two years and several million dollars of litigation later ... and within inches of a trial the damn case has been settled.
📌I fervently hope there is more here than we are hearing. I need to hear this from Fox on their stinking fucking air:
📌“We apologize and beg for your forgiveness for lying to you about the 2020 Election and Dominion Voting Systems. Joe Biden handily won the election by more than seven million votes, and Dominion accurately tabulated every, single vote."
📌"We are a morally weak group of people, and simply repeated Donald Trump’s dangerous lies about the election because we were scared and didn’t want to lose you, our faithful audience. It was an abominable thing to do, and we again beg for your forgiveness ...”
📌Anything less is unsatisfactory. This is bigger than any lawsuit. It is about the protection of our Democracy, which is hanging by a thread in this country.
-END-
📌BREAKING: Under the terms of the settlement, Fox News will not have to apologize or admit to spreading false claims on network programming.
📌Holy shit. HOW (why) did Dominion let them get away with this??????
📌Here's the whole sordid tale with some add-ons. Subscriptions are free or paid and welcome.
📌SOUTH PADRE ISLAND, Texas — A giant unmanned SpaceX rocket failed catastrophically and blew up shortly after takeoff Thursday.
<more>
📌Attempts by SpaceX owner Elon Musk to paint the disaster as a success mirror similar pathetic efforts to mitigate the multi-billion dollar losses he's suffered since being forced to purchase Twitter by a judge after outbidding himself by tens of billions of dollars.
<more>
📌“An exciting test launch of Starship," Musk tweeted out. "Learned a lot for next test launch in a few months.”
🇺🇸As President Carter chases one more sunrise, I want to put this out there: I did not vote for him in 1980.
🇺🇸 I take no real pride in typing that, and if I'm being honest, and I was the person I am now doing the voting then, he might have got my vote.
🇺🇸 Please understand ...
🇺🇸 In 1980, I was fresh out of the Navy, and laid off after working construction for a couple of months.
I resisted collecting unemployment, but relented, before finding a job at a delicatessen.
🇺🇸 When that place closed, I was broke, and on the brink of homelessness.
🇺🇸 I'll never forget standing on a line to fill out an application to pump gas one day. By the time I got my shot, the manager told me more than 200 people had already applied.
🇺🇸 I said, "Should I even bother filling this fucking thing it?"
📌Some great reporting by the @nytimes out of Ukraine today. Russia is in deep, deep trouble:
KYIV, Ukraine — As Moscow steps up its offensive in eastern Ukraine, weeks of failed attacks on a Ukrainian stronghold have left two Russian brigades in tatters.
📌"The battle for the city of Vuhledar, which has been viewed as an opening move in an expected Russian spring offensive, has been playing out since the last week of January, but the scale of Moscow’s losses there is only now beginning to come into focus."
📌"Accounts from Ukrainian and Western officials, Ukrainian soldiers, captured Russian soldiers and Russian military bloggers, as well as video and satellite images, paint a picture of a faltering Russian campaign that continues to be plagued by battlefield dysfunction."
📌20 years ago today millions of us marched against the prospect of a U.S. attack on Iraq.
📌I was the Managing Editor of Stars & Stripes at the time and couldn't believe how little regard our own government had for the lives of our troops and their families.
<more>
📌I could not believe the bloodlust that would accompany the "shock and awe" of blasting to smithereens thousands of innocent civilians on live television, all to support a BIG LIE.
📌I stood in the newsroom disgusted, and went back into my office to cry.
📌That fucking war is still the most awful thing I have seen in my lifetime.
📌Dick Cheney made hundreds of million of dollars. W. Bush got reelected.
📌Any notion the U.S. was a great country was OVER.
📌To this day, NOBODY in government has paid for this, the highest crime.
🌹On Valentine's Day, I offer you my favorite poem.
(Dedicated to those I have loved on so many yesterdays, and those who I will love again tomorrow. -Peace ...)
“I sit beside the fire and think
Of all that I have seen
Of meadow flowers and butterflies
In summers that have been
🌹
Of yellow leaves and gossamer
In autumns that there were
With morning mist and silver sun
And wind upon my hair
🌹
🌹
I sit beside the fire and think
Of how the world will be
When winter comes without a spring
That I shall ever see
