In a few countries, mostly Muslim nations - homosexuality is still punishable by death. These countries include Pakistan, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Sudan, and parts of Nigeria and Somalia. This world has a long way to go for LGBTQIA+ rights.
Sadly, life imprisonment is still a reality for LGBTQIA+ individuals in some places, mostly in Africa. Uganda and Tanzania are examples of countries where being LGBTQIA+ can lead to life imprisonment.
In many countries - also in Africa, homosexuality is criminalized and can lead to imprisonment. Some of these nations include Cameroon, Kenya, Zimbabwe, and Jamaica. India was also on this list but we got out of it in 2018 which triggered a wave of changes in the world.
Civil unions provide legal protections for LGBTQIA+ couples. They are not socially equivalent to marriages but they ensure that the union has legal recognition. Examples include Italy and Austria.
Marriage equality has made great strides in recent years. Countries like the USA, Canada, Australia, and many European nations now legally recognize same-sex marriages. India could also join this list if the Supreme Court decides so, which will be a historic change for Asia.
Adoption rights for LGBTQIA+ individuals and couples are expanding worldwide. Countries such as the Netherlands, Spain, and Argentina grant full adoption rights to LGBTQIA+ people. Most of these countries also allow marriages except for some like Israel.
What do you think?

Excited to share an infographic showcasing milk cooperative societies from different states of India!
🤔 Wondering what a milk cooperative is? Milk cooperatives are organizations owned and operated by farmers, who work together to process, market, and distribute their dairy products. They play a pivotal role in empowering farmers and ensuring fair prices for their produce. 🐄
Not many know but Amul is Gujarat's milk cooperative that probably is the most recognisable brand nationally. Followed by Mother Dairy from Delhi. #Amul#GujaratDairy 🐮
Most teachings about God’s personality refer to Him as the Supreme Being. It is difficult to feel related to such a personality.
In the Hindu philosophy, your relationship with your God is a personal path in which you are free to personalise, experiment and improvise.
Presenting here are the 5 standard types of love that devotees generally tend to have for Krishna, these are - Shanta, Dasya, Sakhya, Vatsalya, and Madhurya. Each path has its own special quality of intimacy.
Shanta bhakti is a peaceful and tranquil form of devotion. It is characterized by deep inner peace and quiet contemplation, where the devotee seeks spiritual enlightenment through meditation and reflection. The attachment in this path is not intense, it is the beginning of bhakti
I love the fact that programmers work so hard to make themselves redundant.
I built a 100k YouTube channel with bar chart racing videos, 1 year later, open sourced the code.
Made a 100k Twitter page with maps about India, 2 years later, I've given the power to everyone.
All artists I admire take the road nobody else does. They find a dense forest, tame the animals, light a fire, build a tent, grow some crips and then invite society to come join them.
It's almost like artists need to do the hard work and suffer the pain themselves so that nobody else has to.
Tools like iipmaps will not somehow automate data visualization. If anything they will only open more avenues by making the field more accessible to more people. Canva did not make graphic design redundant, it made it more democratic.
At the core of iipmaps is a determination to empower the people and businesses of India to tell our own stories with the same finesse that only a few privileged organisations in the West have enjoyed so far.
Until we write our own story, the world is more than willing to do it for us, and often without our consent. We need to change this.
