Wheeling's only official skyscraper, the Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Building, has seen estimated restoration costs rise from $21 million to $48 million, to which the audience gasped. @MayorWheeling and members of Council traveled to Canton, OH, to meet with developers

Municipal Tree Board Chairwoman Karen Cox spoke about the 1,150 trees on City property, 300 new trees planted in the last three years, and the April 22 Earth Day block party at Heritage Port. The Tree Board was codified to the City Charter, 6-0. #folkreporters
3/13
April was declared Fair Housing Month and the Chairman of the Wheeling Human Rights Commission, Ralph Dunkin, and Comm'r Vincent DeGeorge and Comm'r David Miller accepted the Proclamation. @MayorWheeling recognized the 55th anniversary of the FHA of 1968. #folkreporters
4/13
Most frustrating to me- a resolution to demolish two historic East Wheeling buildings and a third building was approved unanimously without debate. The buildings are zoned for parking and commercial, and will likely become @Enterprise parking lots. NOT COOL. #folkreporters
5/13
A resolution to approve a contract with A-1 cleaning remained tabled. Sources tell me it is due to a dispute between who should get the contract, national corp A-1 or local @RNSWATCH. This is the second meeting the motion has been tabled. #folkreporters#spicydrama
City Manager Robert Herron spoke about the Homeowner Repair Assistance Program, stating there is a $2,000,000 budget. 88 projects have been completed, 202 projects are in process, and 99 projects have yet to start. #folkreporters
8/13
Nine original proposals were announced potentially totaling more than $1.17 MILLION in funding. Lane abandonment, @WheelingFD Stations 2 and 10 repairs, and purchase of a "leaf machine." @CENTURY21 will begin advertising retail space in new 11th St Parking Garage.
9/13
Special shout-out to Councilor @RosemaryKetchum, Ward 3, who was able to get input from Mozart to rename duplicative street names. Councilor Palmer, Ward 6, warned Ketchum it may take a while but she got it done in a month max! Not official. Will be voted on next meeting.
10/13
Public comments: Mr Dodd complained about a 40-year road slippage and implored the city to respond. Mr Gebhart complained about paying @WheelingFD tax despite not being covered by them, as he claimed. Ms Ditmar asked for bridges and playgrounds to be fixed. #folkreporters
11/13
.@MayorWheeling called an executive session to discuss "property acquisition," but no agreement was reached. Unsure what this was about and would love any insight offered by Mayor Elliott!
MAJOR UPDATE: @DEPWV Chief Communications Officer confirms one storage tank was found during @WVDOT@CityofWheeling Streetscape Project. @MillerEnvGroup has been contracted by Triton Construction to perform testing on water and sand found in tank. An odor of diesel was detected.
.@DEPWV says no immediate threat is posed to the Ohio River, but no test results have been submitted. Work on removal was completed on April 17. Comment from @CityofWheeling has not been received, but the Public Relations Specialist confirmed she is working on it w/ City Manager

And one of the contestants found my posts with my handmade alien mask and wants to paint portraits of me!! Hello!!?? What is happening who knew my big break would be a local wheeling event
This is the picture which got them lol. I made this mask and for a while it was my PFP on here until I realized it was kind of scary for people who don’t know me (most of you 🫶)
So sorry for the delayed thread— a dear friend who is leaving town came to say goodbye. We hadn’t spoken for a couple months and they are moving from Wheeling! Really care for this person and wanted to spend as much time with them as possible.
Please SHARE parts of that thread. Many important stories that shouldn’t be buried! The nastiness of this council meeting was unlike anything I had seen. Personal attacks against any Councilor should not be accepted.
No comment from citizens. Wanted comment from the Counsilors but many left immediately— unusual for most post-adjournments and likely due to C’s rant. Pretty sure her and her friends said something about me as I walked out. Probably because I busted out laughing when C spoke
THREAD: Wheeling City Council Holds Contentious Meeting— Resolution Re-Affirming the Civil Rights of Wheeling Residents rejected 3-3. Here are the highlights.
I WILL BE GOING OUT OF CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER. Spiciest stuff first. Before we start- 1) security checks were held, 2) @MayorWheeling was absent, 3) out of the three meetings I’ve reported on not ONE has had full attendance of the #citycouncil. Roughly 20 citizens in attendance
2/15
A Resolution to Re-Affirm the civil rights of Wheeling residents was offered. This is in response to the WV Leg passing HB 3042, RFRA. Councilor @benseidler spoke in opposition, upset that the resolution was “dropped in our laps” 24 hours ago.
Hey! Do you work for an equitable organization looking for a self-motivated, passionate worker with years of demonstrated skills in leadership, team work, public speaking, relationship building, and community engagement I'm your man! I come with bonus farming knowledge!
I have 3+ years experience with people aged 7 to 21, from five to twenty people, on community cleanup tasks, cooking classes, farm-related tasks etc. I have created content for these work and volunteer groups, lead their activities, and coordinated with coworkers to achieve this
I have 2+ years of direct community engagement including, not limited too, compost collection program; litter pickup; assisted in 1,000+ meals delivered between May 2020-May 2021; community garden maintenance and engagement; 200+ pounds of local produce donated 2022.
I noticed this when East Palestine train derailment happened- an influx of right-wing conspiracy theorists. That’s when I first heard of “smart cities.” This is the comment section of a recent “RAW Alerts” tweet. The account attracts many of these conspiracies.
Some very suspect things happening on this platform, as we’re all aware. Not sure what we do to combat such viral misinformation and conspiracy web spinning. In my opinion this is a bad omen
This account posts a lot of stories that don’t receive coverage, but it’s also clearly a hot bed for right-wing agitators. How any new source claiming to be reputable would allow these conspiracies to flourish without putting a statement out in opposition is beyond me.
