The Michael Morrell scandal that broke this week is worse than it looks (and it already looks bad).

Morrell was one of the 7 CIA directors on the board of the Atlantic Council, who DHS deputized to censor the 2020 election, & who was partnered with Burisma.
Morrell, who was on the board of the group used by DHS to censor millions of Biden-critical posts off the Internet in 2020 & who orchestrated the 51 "spies who lied" to get Biden elected...

Was *inches* away from becoming Biden's CIA chief as a reward:

Here is Michael Morrell in Jan 2017, explaining how if he were still CIA Director, the CIA would be secretly murdering Russians in the dead of night then lying to the American people, publicly denying that they were doing the covert murders he says must be done.

Mind you, this is one week after Trump took office in 2017, 5 years before the escalation of the Russia-Ukraine conflict in 2022.

This is why you must keep CIA spooks *OUT* of domestic affairs. "Dept of Dirty Tricks" incarnate.

I’m like scratching my eyes trying to triple confirm this is really real and they’re really doing this
Congratulations. A country already half off the edge of a legitimacy crisis b/c half the country doesn’t trust the gov’t or institutions anymore will now face a full-blown legitimacy crisis.

You lost 100 million people for generations today.
And GOOD LUCK to our current cadre of diplomatic corps at the State Dept.

Eagerly awaiting the response from Georgia, Serbia, Turkey, Saudi Arabia when you invoke “Rule Of Law! Rule Of Law!” as a sanctions predicate after today.

Exactly right. The first people (CIA-funded, no less) to holler from the hills about “realistic deepfakes” were the first people to start circulating them.

The disinfo experts are disinfo artists.
“An intelligence agency for the people” but it’s promoted and funded by actual intelligence agencies.

CIA.gov, no less
To be clear, I have no problem with people using Midjourney 5 or other AI software to make hyper realistic images. This is, in many ways, a continuation and evolution of the “meme magic” that made the Golden Age of the Internet.

I have a problem when it’s CIA cut-outs doing it.

Yes. Awesome to see this get mass attention. At @FFO_Freedom, we have been banging the drum about the National Science Foundation's domestic censorship AI superweapons program -- and the 'Course Correct' project specifically -- for 6 months now.

Report: foundationforfreedomonline.com/?page_id=875
If you're new here, here's a giant thread we did on where Internet censorship incubator 'Course Correct' is housed, the NSF's Convergence Accelerator Track F program:

The guy who did this is Eliot Higgins, founder of Bellingcat. Ironically, Bellingcat is used by the US & UK intelligence community to make "Russian disinfo" judgments about info online.

Bellingcat is funded by the CIA front & State Dept-funded National Endowment for Democracy. ImageImageImageImage
For receipts on Bellingcat's intelligence community connections, see @MaxBlumenthal's excellent archive on them at The Grayzone:

🧵 Here’s a thread on DOD’s psychological operations social science research program, the Minerva Initiative, and its connection to the censorship industry:
A lot of people may look at the following social science research grants and wonder: what the heck is the US Department of Defense doing funding all this?

It’s odd enough that the government is spending taxpayer dollars, but why the Pentagon, specifically? ImageImageImageImage
A lot of people think of DOD as being about guns, missiles, tanks and bombs.

So they see DOD funding on climate change and say “that’s woke!” Or funding on alternative governance and say “that’s WEF!” Or funding on stopping conspiracy theories online and say “they hate speech!”

Also run out of Atlantic Council, a Burisma lobbyist with a formal agreement to send Burisma deal flow.

Also run out of Graphika, recipient of $7 million in DOD grants/contracts. Given DOD’s dominant role in Covid policy, its funding of Covid censorship orgs is… notable.
