How is this man connected to Estonia, so far away from his native Ichkeria? From 1987 through March 1990, he commanded nuclear-armed long-range strategic bombers of the 326th Heavy Bomber Aviation Division of the Soviet Long Range Aviation at Raadi, Tartu, Estonia. Image
Dudayev learned the Estonian language and was very supportive of the Estonian freedom movement. Estonians take pride, too, in the fact that Dudayev was inspired by the way in which the Baltic States regained their independence, and tried to copy the process in Chechnya. Image
Dudayev refused to order the 4,000 forces under his command to crush Estonia's drive for independence during his posting in Tartu. "Estonia can't forget what Dudayev did," said Ants Veetousme, former mayor of Tartu. "It was largely thanks to him there was no bloodshed here." Image
When Chechnya declared itself independent from the Russian Federation, Estonia was one of the first countries to express its support. It was also one of the first to condemn the brutal way in which Russia sought to crush the rebellion. Image
Is that all? Oh no, we are talking about a person who predicted all current aggressions of russia and its downfall after "the Ukrainian sun rises."
He had no crystal ball, he just knew russia too well. Image
In 1991, Boris Yeltsin, then chairman of the presidium of the RSFSR Supreme Soviet, flew to Tallinn to sign the documents with Estonia and Latvia that became the basis of bilateral relations between Moscow, on the one hand, and Tallinn and Riga, on the other.
But while in Tallinn, Yeltsin issued an appeal to Russian officers and soldiers in the Soviet army not to fire on peaceful demonstrators and freely elected governments. Yet it didn't stop OMON in Riga. KGB was very unhappy about Yeltsin statement.
Yeltsin received a warning that the aircraft due to fly him back from Tallinn to Moscow would meet with an accident. He already had strange accidents. The team decided that Yeltsin would not catch the flight but would take a car to go from Tallinn to Leningrad. Image
Yeltsin had no car at his disposal. Dudayev sent his generalโ€™s car to drive Boris Nikolayevich from Tallinn to Leningradโ€ and thus to safety. eesti.ca/when-dudayev-sโ€ฆ
April 21, 1996, Dudaev was assassinated by russian missile attack in southwestern Chechnya.
Dudaev is considered a terrorist in russia and praised as a hero in the free world. Image
In Tartu, where he lived and worked for 4 years, a marble tablet was placed on the wall. In the same building now there is a Barklay hotel where you can stay in Dudaev suite - a room where he worked while in Tartu. Image

I found a "Russian bogatyrs" book that my grandma bought for my mom, and it has become a family book.
However, there is one issue.
The entire story takes place in Ukraine.
And the very first sentence reads, "On high hills, there is a city of Kyiv"...
Those are Kyivan Rus fairytales about mighty heroes, sort of Avengers of the 10th century.
Moscow is not mentioned as it doesnโ€™t yet exist.
Some rather epic shots from the book.

A THREAD.
Russian attitude towards money (and work).
Based on my personal observations on- and offline.
Important because some westeners still think russians share their attitudes. They never did. Image
Russia is a deeply hierarchical country - what a simple person cannot allow himself to do, say etc, a person with money and power can. And if those from the bottom BEHAVE, they will get their punishment sooner or later, so most of them chose not to behave.
Earning money in russia HAS NOTHING TO DO with how qualified you are. You have to know the right people, be with good relations with them and think the way they do - to be part of the gang literally. Soviet classics movie antihero "Gorbatuy", gang lead.

A vatnik from ruzzia is terrified that we know what

INGRIA

is and what russians did to Ingrians.

Let's spread this knowledge around the world. Image
St. Petersburg, that only russian city that tries to look European because it was built by Italians (and the debt for works for it is still outstanding) - you know it, right? It is built on Ingria land stolen from Ingrians. Killings and deportation followed (usual RU practice).
The region described lies along the southeastern shore of the Gulf of Finland. It is bordered by Lake Ladoga on the Karelian Isthmus in the north and by the River Narva on the border with Estonia in the west.

For those who donโ€™t fully understand what Simonyan is talking about here, a short explanation:
1. ethnically she is Armenian
2. her cultural code is Russian, ruzzki mir. Her values are of ruzzki mir and her views are of ruzzki mir.
Why itโ€™s important?
1/-

Being ethnically russian and a part of ruzzki mir is not the same thing. You can be australian/german/hindu/โ€ฆ and share ruzzki mir values. And you can be ethnically russian without sharing ruzzki mir values (pretty rare yet happens). 2/-
Ruzzki mir is a cultural concept, system of values and hierarchies, not ethnicity. How to recognise if a person with ruzzki mir values? 3/-

Carl Gustaf Emil Mannerheim (4.06.1867, Louhisaare Manor -1951, Lausanne, Switzerland) was a Finnish military leader and statesman who played a significant role in shaping Finland's history.
But he is not only a great military and statesman. Image
Mannerheim was incredibly active, what cost him exclusion from Hamina Military School. Yet in 1887, Gustaf entered the famous St. Petersburg Cavalry School. After graduating, In January 1891, he joined the Chevalier Guard Regiment in St Petersburg. Image
This allowed Mannerheim access to high society, up to the tsar's court. Mannerheim served in the Imperial Chevalier Guard until 1904. In 1896, he took part in the coronation of Emperor Nicholas II, standing for four hours in his full-dress Imperial Chevalier Guard uniform. Lieutenant marching in fron...

A thread. Not all ruzzians are loud, drink until they die, use swearwords instead if commas and behave like โ€ฆ we read in the reports on russian atrocities. There is the other type - FOREVER VICTIM. Sweet, innocent, charming, often well-educated (in ๐Ÿ—‘๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ‡บ standards) 1/*
They might draw, know a lot if totally impractical things, donโ€™t demand anything (yet) and quietly write in their LJ/TG/Twitter/Instagram about their unique inner world. They use westernised words, follow Western media, but in a very twisted way (hard to explain).
You wonder why i speak about those innocent creatures? Because they do literally only two things - whine and nothing. Their whole life is about their suffering from literally anything. Do they take any actions to change their lives?
