Yesterday I met a Cuban immigrant.

He moved to Miami with no degree.

Learned how to be a plumber.

Then bought his first truck…

4 years later he has 5 plumbers working for him.

He takes home $500k per year, and takes 8 weeks of vacation per year.

He doesn’t take calls… twitter.com/i/web/status/1…
When he hires new plumbers he slowly trains them.

Think of trade apprentices from 100 years ago. He takes his training very seriously.

They all wear nice uniforms.

He has beautiful logos on his trucks.

He gets the trucks washed once a week.

And spends zero dollars on… twitter.com/i/web/status/1…

Newsflash...

Your rich neighbors didn't go to Ivy League colleges.

They:
- skipped college
- learned sales
- sell high-ticket products or services Image
Most likely path to wealth and financial stability for your family:

1. learn sales

2. learn a trade

There are no gatekeepers to worry about.

If you learn one of these skills (or both), you will be unstoppable.

This Turkish immigrant went from producing cheese on his family farm to building a company worth $2.1 billion.

I love an immigrant success story… Image
Hamdi Ulukaya was born in 1972 in eastern Turkey.

He was raised by a family of sheep farmers and learned how to make yogurt and cheese at an early age.

Yogurt would become a recurring theme in his life.

But he wouldn’t realize this until later…
In 1994 Ulukaya moved to the US, where he’d pursue a master’s degree.

As he explored a new life in the states, there was one thing on his mind:

Cheese.

The story of SVB makes me think of a late 1800s story…

About the richest banker in California.

He famously stopped runs on his bank multiple times… Image
Isaias Hellman was a Jewish immigrant who started a small bank called Farmers & Merchants.

One day while he was on vacation in Europe, his bank president closed the bank to customers…

It caused a panic.

On learning this he rushed home.

He showed up surrounded by guards…
And a chariot full of gold bars…

He walked through the middle of the nervous crowd waiting to make withdrawals.

With people watching he slowly stacked gold bars on the counter of the bank.

People now knew their money was safe…and the crowd calmed down.

Here's a quick primer on how I plan to save money on taxes:
(I first wrote about this in my newsletter, will share a link in the comments)

I like to invest for the long term out of my Roth IRA.

This allows me to pay taxes today, and avoid paying taxes on capital gains made from the investment...
To illustrate the value of this, let’s say my tax rate today is 40%.

If I put $100 in my Roth, I’ll pay $40 to the tax man.

If I invest the $100 in the S&P500 for 20 years, and it grows at 8% per year my investment will be worth $466 (or $366 of profit).

Ken Fisher is an American billionaire.

And the founder and chairman of a company you’ve never heard of.

His famous quote changed how I think about investing:

“Time in the market beats timing the market.”

Here’s what I learned…
Time in the market can help you:

• Generate more cash flow
• Save on taxes
• Weather volatility

The benefits are endless.

But only if you implement a solid value investing strategy.
There are four elements to consider when value investing.

1. The Business

2. The Market

3. Margin of Safety

4. Circle of Competence

Last week I met a founder who reached $7 MILLION in sales in less than 24 months.

And she self-funded it…

Here are a few secrets she shared that helped her grow:
Before diving in, here’s some background on the founder:

Adriane never planned on starting a company.

She started her career in finance. And led recruiting at her firm for 8 years..

Then one day she gets a call from her friend, @jspujji ...
Jesse pitched Adriane on jumping ship and starting a company.

What kind of company?

💡 One that helps companies recruit low cost talent abroad.

She took the plunge.

... and @GrowthAssistant was born…
