this is exactly my point, using dubcon fiction as a coping mechanism or certain tropes to deal with trauma is something I WOULD NEVER JUDGE, only issue with this whole drama is when people openly say it is RAPE and then glorify him in the same sentence while acknowledging this^^
it's one thing to enjoy the books in private but to say it's 'omg it is SA and I'm aware and idrc!' online is fucking insane, like, knowing full well while choosing to sexualize it in the same breath publicly is something entirely different than what others have been-
-doing since the books and other similar media have come out :/ no judgement towards belle or anyone who enjoyed the books for reasons as I've stated above, my problem is when people start saying things like this honestly
anyone demeaning actual survivors for reading tropes that THEY use to cope with THEIR trauma is gross, there is a difference between using them to cope and justifying/romanticizing books and characters and that's where I draw the line and my issue is with it honestly
and ofc not as a way to invalidate other survivors of these experiences, but different people deal with trauma in certain ways that may not make sense to you and sometimes they're not supposed to, and I wholly understand that, glorifying it online and romanticizing the actions of
this character is where it gets screwed up, you can use tropes to cope or you can glorify it online to the masses while acknowledging in the exact same sentence that they’re a terrible person and that’s fucked up, zade meadows is a rapist — fact, and I’m not justifying his
actions, I’m saying that not everyone who read it is a rape apologist, maybe they’re just using him as their way to cope, and no one has any right to judge that.

I think we seriously need to reevaluate this whole 'it's just fiction' bullshit, fiction is ALWAYS an extension of reality, and in taking this into account we understand that as an extension of reality it can be circulated back to INFLUENCE reality.
they ban books for political reasons FOR reasons, books and literature and all sorts of media aren't just used for media consumption and entertainment, they can also be allegorical, with ulterior intentions conveyed and weaved between the words cast onto pages in ink and paper
messages are conveyed in almost any form of media whether you like it or not, there is an intention to be found, it's never JUST 'fiction', yeah I get it, it's not that deep or 'not that serious', but not everyone thinks of it that way, and on a macro scale, we need to think of
no one can EVER ruin my affection for 'soft' characters, the one's with a quiet sort of resolve, the sensitive ones who, despite the horror and hurt they've endured, never fail to show up the next day with a smile to encourage their friends, the backbones of any character cast!!!
just those sweet characters that make you wanna SQUISH THEM bc they're such sweethearts yet truly a have sort of unflinching strength that has seen the exact same pain and trauma as any other character in that story while still managing to maintain an unfallable sense of GOODNESS
LIKEEE I don't think you understand that the characters you call 'weak' are characters who've endured the exact same experience as the conventionally 'stronger' character yet THEY still hold out good for the world, THEY are proof that kindness can emerge from tragedy! istg I will
'but it's dubcon' dubcon means DUBIOUS CONSENT, not a character explicitly saying 'don't' and repeating themselves multiple times and needing to 'wash away' the experience afterward, she didn't enjoy it, her body reacted like a body does as a functioning ANATOMY, bffr
