Kevin Morris, Hunter Biden’s lawyer, controls an entity with a ten percent stake in BHR Partners, a Chinese state-backed investment fund founded just days after Hunter and President Joe Biden visited China in 2013, a source confirmed Friday to Breitbart News.

After pressure increased on Hunter Biden to divest from BHR Partners due to a conflict of interest upon Joe Biden assuming the White House, Hunter Biden’s lawyer told the New York Times in the fall of 2021 that his client “no longer holds any interest, directly or indirectly in either BHR or Skaneateles.”

Skaneateles LLC, the entity which owns ten percent of BHR Partners, according to Chinese public records from Baidu, was controlled by Hunter as the sole governor until its dissolution in September 2021, a Washington, DC, registration indicated.

But new documents obtained by Breitbart News, first revealed by nonprofit Marco Polo, show the control of Skaneateles LLC is being held by Kevin Morris, Hunter’s top attorney, who also paid Hunter’s IRS debts.

In a document entitled, “AMENDED AND RESTATED JOINT VENTURE CONTRACT of BHR PARTNERS (SHANGHAI) EQUITY INVESTMENT FUND MANAGEMENT CO., LTD. A FOREIGN-FUNDED ENTERPRISE,” Kevin Morris is listed as the Managing Member of Skaneateles LLC.

The document shows Skaneateles LLC holds a ten percent stake in BHR Partners, equivalent to $3 million.
Breitbart News also obtained a copy of an email with the subject line, “Signing Instructions,” sent by a BHR Partners’ company email address from the name Heng-Yin Zhang to Jimmy Bulger, who is a Biden family longtime business partner. Hunter Biden previously was a BHR Partners board member with Bulger.

Bulger’s firm, Thornton Group LLC, is deeply connected with business in China. Thornton Group LLC is also  listed in the agreement, the document shows.

“We have mailed you the documents for signing (Fedex tracking no.: 8137 6269 8141 0448). We would like to share with you the signing instructions of the documents in the order of their placements inside the envelope we send to you,” an email reads to Bulger from Heng-Yin Zhang, an individual with a BHR Partners’ email address.

Breitbart News confirmed and authenticated the venture contract and the “Signing Instructions” email with a source with knowledge of the transaction. In addition, the source confirmed “Kevin Morris is the ‘managing partner’ of Skaneateles, LLC’ and that ‘Skaneateles has a 10 percent stake in the [BHR] venture.'”

“Yes, sir. Confirmation is correct,” the individual with knowledge of the transaction told Breitbart News.

These revelations may contradict what Hunter Biden’s lawyer previously stated. His counsel indicated Hunter Biden no longer had any interest in BHR Partners “directly or indirectly.” It’s possible these documents indicate those claims are patently false.

In 2018 and 2020, Breitbart Senior Contributor and Government Accountability Institute President Peter Schweizer published Secret Empires and Profiles in Corruption. Each book hit #1 on the New York Times bestseller list and exposed how Hunter Biden and Joe Biden flew aboard Air Force Two in 2013 to China before Hunter’s firm inked a $1.5 billion deal with a subsidiary of the Chinese government’s Bank of China, less than two weeks after the trip. Schweizer’s work also uncovered the Biden family’s other vast and lucrative foreign deals and cronyism.

Breitbart Political Editor Emma-Jo Morris’s investigative work at the New York Post on the Hunter Biden “laptop from hell” also captured international headlines when she, along with Miranda Devine, revealed that Joe Biden was intimately involved in Hunter’s businesses, appearing to have a ten percent stake in a company the scion formed with officials at the highest levels of the Chinese Communist Party.

Who is Sophia Farooq? Why is her online presence so limited? What’s the truth behind her claims of executive roles at Delta and Walmart? And what about her ties to controversial financial institutions and her family’s deep connections to extremist ideologies?

In this thread continuation, we’ll uncover the truth about Sophia Farooq, her background, and the web of influence that surrounds her. It’s a story of predatory lending, global finance, and ideological extremism that could have far-reaching implications for our political system.

Let’s dive in.

The Candidate with No Footprint
Sophia Farooq’s candidacy raised eyebrows from the start. For someone running for a high-profile position like the Cobb County GOP chair, her online presence was surprisingly sparse. No LinkedIn profile, no social media accounts—nothing that could verify her claimed executive roles at Delta Airlines and Walmart.

Our team dug deeper, and what we found was alarming. Farooq’s employment history led us to Skylight Financial, where she served as Vice President of Marketing. Skylight, later acquired by Netspend, was embroiled in controversy for its predatory lending practices, targeting minorities and lower-income groups with high-interest loans and high interest credit cards. Both companies faced sanctions from the Federal Trade Commission for their unethical practices.

As noted earlier in our group investigation thread, “Concerns were raised about Sophia Farooq's background, prompting a deeper investigation. Initial findings revealed an unusually limited online presence, particularly odd given her public claims.”

But that’s just the beginning.

Family Ties to Extremism
Sophia Farooq’s family background is equally concerning. Her grandfather, Abul A'la Maududi, was not just any Islamic scholar; he was the founder of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), a group designated as a terrorist organization in several countries, including the UAE.
JI was instrumental in recruiting figures like Osama bin Laden into the Mujahideen and acted as a CIA liaison during the U.S.-backed operations in Afghanistan.

Her father, Dr. Syed Ahmad Farooq (who lost his medical license) was the first elected secretary of the organization now known as ICNA (The Islamic Circle of North America), which is connected to JI and promotes a rigid interpretation of Islam. Her uncles are also prominent figures: one leads a publishing house distributing JI-aligned works, and was a also distinguished guest of the Al Khidmat Foundation. Another is a public figure in Pakistan with ties to human rights activism but critical of some JI teachings.

Maududi’s ideology is starkly outlined in his own words: “Wherever you are, in whichever country you live, you must strive to change the wrong basis of government, and seize all powers to the rule and make laws from those who do not fear God... The name of this striving is Jihad.”

Financial and Political Networks
Farooq’s connections extend beyond her family. Her campaign and supporters include major corporations such as the law firm of Rod Rosenstein, Christopher Wray, and Gina Haspel (King & Spalding) and Lockheed Martin, as well as figures tied to global finance and technology, such as APAX Partners, ThoughtWorks, and Grameen Bank.

Grameen Bank, led by Mohammed Yunus, who has connections to Farooq’s grandfather, is implicated in microfinance and high-interest lending. Yunus has been involved in political influence, and funding protest movements like Black Lives Matter. Then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton also pressured the Bangladeshi government into closing down an investigation on Grameen Bank. It’s also notable, that not long after the investigation was shuttered, the Clinton Foundation then received a generous donation from Dr. Yunus shortly thereafter.

APAX Partners, a UK based private equity firm, which shares executive leadership with Grameen America, is linked to election infrastructure, including NGP VAN, used by Democrats, and even Russia’s sovereign wealth fund, suggesting a broad influence network spanning finance, politics, and technology.

The Bigger Picture
The story of Sophia Farooq is not just about one candidate; it’s about a larger strategy to infiltrate and influence American political systems at local and national levels. From predatory lending to extremist ideologies, from global finance to local politics, the connections are vast and troubling.

1/4 We love New Zealand! Ever since we visited Queenstown to chase down a story back in late 2023, we have followed it’s local political news cycle.

🧵Chris LaCivita, (@LaCivitaC) has not always been a Trump supporter. Prior to taking on his new dual role with the RNC / Trump For President 2024, he deleted many old tweets, yet failed to clear out his “likes” —don’t worry, we have them all saved, Chris.

This one in particular, from @axios, posted on Jan 6th, was a tweet of one of their headlines, that read:

“UPDATE: Three tweets from Trump in which he repeated claims of voter fraud have been hidden from view until the President deletes them”

That tweet was re-tweeted and quoted by the account, @BarbaraComstock, and it was THAT post that, Chris LaCivita took the time to “LIKE”.

The RT/Quote post read:

“Twitter locked @realDonaldTrump for 12 hours. Now the cabinet needs to lock him down for the next 14 days. #25thAmendmentNow”

Charlie Spies, who we revealed was a long time “never-Trumper” had the same views —he’s now gone. Fired TWICE by President Trump, actually. (NOT resigned as LaCivita told the press)
