#RWBY Hey so forgive the bright overly simplistic insanely obvious visual aid... but I just happened to pass by something that... has proved its clearly not obvious to everyone.
RUBY'S. CHARACTER. ARC. IN. VOLUME. 9. IS. NOT. FILLER.
It's been bad enough dealing with-
this about the volume in general but it is utterly baffling to me that I keep seeing this in regards to Ruby's character arc.
"You are enough"
DOES NOT MEAN THAT RUBY IS THE EXACT SAME PERSON AS SHE ALWAYS WAS. IT DOES NOT MEAN HER GROWTH WAS "REVERTED"
The things that have-
happened to her throughout the course of the show have still happened, the only thing that has happened is she now understands that the insane unrealistic expectations she has foisted upon herself since childhood based on her mother are unrealistic and that to be the hero the-
story needs. She needs to try, she cannot save everyone that is not an option, she is not infallible, there is no such thing. There is no perfection.
These are not refutations of her learned experiences throughout the show, they are not replacements for the losses she has-
experienced nor the strengths she has gained.
It is the continued growth OF THEM. She did not return to "red trailer Ruby", she became the best version of HER. The point was explicitly to NOT GO BACK TO RED TRAILER RUBY, OR TO SUMMER ROSE OR TO SOMEONE ELSE... the point was to-
be the best Ruby she can be, those other options are not her best her, its not the one that grew and learned and became a leader and who has succeeded in protecting all those she has. Who learned all those lessons and then also learned the lesson you people CANNOT UNDERSTAND,-
which is that there is no such thing as perfect. It is not a refutation of Ruby throughout the show just undoing her growth or making it irrelevant, IT IS A REFUTATION OF PEOPLE LIKE YOU. Who demand perfection and then actively fight against the characters/show/writers when they-
succeed. Its a battle against that constant goal post shifting both amongst people who think this as well as the unhealthy expectations she built for herself.
She chose herself, the one not from before... BUT FROM NOW. She just now understands she doesn't have to let it destroy-
her. She's the one from before, but with ALL THE GROWTH THAT COMES AFTER, AND THIS NEW GROWTH NOW.
Dear god in heaven, WATCH WHAT IS HAPPENING ON SCREEN AND THINK. Why does anyone take people like this seriously?
Anyway, i'm sorry that was a long winded bit but again, I am so-
unbelievably tired of peoples complete inability to pay attention to what is happening in the show and then blaming it on the writers. And its especially frustrating if its coming from people with actual audiences.
You do not understand writing, stop pretending like you do.
"When it dims, we see Ruby, Weilding Crescent Rose, looking simultaneously different and MORE HERSELF THAN SHE'S EVER BEEN" - Vol 9, Ep 10 Script
Ruby chose herself. The her NOW. The one that grew.
Stop erasing her growth and everyone else's experiences who relate to it. #RWBY

perfect, not closer per say to Weiss' arc as displayed through the soundtrack but very much so the moment where she truly embraces who she is, who she was always meant to be, and who she can still become. Not just a representation of her struggles like much of her other OST rep-
or a desire to change like illustrated in "It's my turn" but a pure, unapologetic condemnation of those hinderances, of her previous ideologies and her father/kingdoms influences. In much the way some of the upcoming volume 9 songs are looking to do for Ruby, This life is Mine-

I might never have really been able to understand romantic Whiterose that much, BUT I will absolutely say they are an utter treasure when it comes to being partners and besties.
I don't really think they've had quite as much time to shine in their antics and or their-
personal interactions super recently but think that's down to both Ruby spending a lot of time mostly with Penny and Weiss either being more spread out across the board with with say Jaune. That and I think Weiss has LONG since out grown her need to go all tsundere with it and-
pretend they aren't as close friends as they are. Especially recently that lack of silly banter and more focus on simply I think it more goes to show how she's not just accepted Ruby as a leader but fully supports and believes in her (as we saw in vol 9) arguably to a fault-
This is kind of a pretty complicated one honestly, cause outside of literally like everyone fighting and ending her all at once at the very end, it's going to be fairly impossible to nail a perfectly satisfying end w/ her, not because of any bad reason more just because she's-
managed to be responsible for so many peoples very personal pain, Ruby, Jaune, Winter, Neo, etc. etc. and knowing her i'm sure she'll find a way to make that list grow still. So again outside of literally EVERYONE getting their hit in (which very possibly might be how it goes)-
I think it has to be either a situation where she just sort of destroys herself/has her arm completely take over as a way of truly illustrating that hunger for power, violence and revenge just eats away at you (a very consistent theme in the series as we've seen), they have to-
Folks like @SAlle1304, @aleviahwolfe and @GearBearArc, etc. who love to bring us all fun and interesting analysis and perspective regarding both scenes from the show and the-
characters we love so dearly, and what they mean to them.
Folks like @Chaikachi or @EtincelleArt who's incredible art i've completely fallen in love with this year whether its been adorable and wholesome or... slightly emotionally devastating but in that good way!
Folks like-
@gh0xttherebel, @RondueSon and so many others who've joined into the reactor space here this past year and change to bring so much positivity and passion for the show that is just utterly infectious. And even then that's only a couple from the youtube side of things, whether-
Maybe someone can help explain it but not gonna lie, the weird random Ice Queendom hate from the #RWBY FNDM seems... weird and unnecessary to me...
Not because its better than the OG or anything like that, more just cause its not... bad and so often it really feels like... just-
trying to gatekeep the show which seems weird and seems counterproductive to me.
If you have genuine issues with like pacing and stuff, I don't really personally get it but its fair enough, we all have our personal tastes for flow and story progression.
Outside of that. It-
Feels pretty arbitrary and weirdly mean to me. Like almost leaning into that exact same weird takes that we constantly have to deal with from people outside the community talking about RWBY proper. It a lot of the time just reads as gatekeepy and unhealthy for the growth of-
