It's the last few days before the election, so here's a thread of threads - a Tapestry of Disappointment, if you like - about the two Salford Lib Dem councillors and the way they've conducted themselves.

A couple of points first, though.

1/13

1) I have no doubt that some will say this is "sour grapes", that I'm "bitter" or a "sore loser."

I say I just care about the city I've called home for over 20 years and don't like to see it exploited for the sake of the political ambitions of some Johnny-come-lately.

2) The Lib Dems pride themselves on being the "only true opposition to Labour" (even when they had zero councillors), so...

...as an active Labour member and former Labour councillor, I guess that makes me part of the opposition to the Lib Dems.

And if the opposition can't shine a spotlight on questionable conduct, who can?

I'm opposed to calling yourself the "local" candidate - and attacking opponents who've lived in the city for decades - when you've been running for election all over the place for the last few years.

I'm opposed to carbon copy campaigning by an "old boys' club" that follows a well-worn and divisive playbook.

Someone - i.e., you, the voter - always ends up getting played.

I'm opposed to councillors blocking anyone who makes the slightest criticism on social media in order to avoid scrutiny.

If you're opposed to these things, too, and think we deserve better from our councillors then #VoteLabour this Thursday, 4 May.

Salford is an amazing city and we can't afford to waste council seats on people who aren't committed to serving it and the people who live here.
