Royals GM + Executive VP of Baseball Ops JJ Picollo said on Cody and Gold @610SportsKC that the team sees tangible improvements in Bobby Witt Jr.'s defense at shortstop regardless of any metrics.
Adds that Witt will remain at SS even with Maikel Garcia being called up.
Picollo says Matt Quatraro and his staff have been "awesome" so far and everyone is maintaining a positive atmosphere in the #Royals' clubhouse.
"When you come in the next day, you don't know what the result was the night before."
Picollo on KC's plan for Hunter Dozier:
"We have enjoyed having Hunter in our organization and we've seen him do some great things ... We know that Hunter has responded in the past."
Said at the same time, Maikel Garcia could play some 3B and "hopefully he (Dozier) gets going."
Picollo says "without naming names," the Royals have some pitchers thriving that the rest of the league will value enough to trade for & KC will be active on that front this year.
Pretty sure you can tell who he's referring to.
Picollo on whether Vinnie Pasquantino has emerged as a leader:
"I think he already has. Vinnie's in a stage where he knows that he belongs in the major leagues and he wants to win. ... He's not overly concerned with how he does as an individual -- he wants the team to do well."
