The Niemoller like poem about the rise of sanghism in Modi years will end up being longer than the Mahabharata.
Starts with Akhlaq. Who knows where it will end.
Indians don't speak enough about what a seminal moment the Akhlaq case was in Indian history.
He was lynched by random people on suspicion of eating beef.
Murder is the biggest crime.
Police forensics focused on whether the meat was beef, not his murder.
A seismic shift, no?
You can draw a straight line from Akhlaq to Monu Manesar.
The "investigation" of the Akhlaq case being so obsessed with whether the meat in the fridge was beef or not, sent the message that the nature of the bear meat was materially relevant to the murder. A mitigating factor.
A small but significant number of humans will always have the urge to do something cruel & selfish, and the only thing that stops them is the consequences, usually from the state.
The Akhlaq case signaled that there would be no consequences for murder, just for beef possession.
The Modi regime has been sending signals since the Akhlaq case that as long as you're ideologically with the sangh and your targets are Muslim or other non Hindus, you will face no consequences from the state.
Leveled up with #BilkisBano rapist murderer release.
Data Singh next
My prediction is that in the run-up to next year's election, they will also release Dara Singh, the murderer of Graham Staines and his two young sons.
Chavhanke & many sants have been agitating for it.
After Bilkis villains, what higher level is there but Dara Singh?
History has taught us that once a country goes down the path of rewarding ethno fascism in electoral politics, it spirals into a situation where every week has to be more extreme than the last one. It's the ideological equivalent of opiate addiction.

I still don't know why she vouched for someone who claims to be a Sikh from SoCal and attending Harvard. But who clearly isn't. And who talks in bambaiyya Hindi.
Just as I'm about to enter the Equator site, a friend sends this pic. Of a woman from Mumbai on LinkedIn. Whose pics were used by Behere to try to catfish me as @k_rupal & I figured out months ago. For a fake account called brandy. Vouched for by a fake account Poonam.
This brandy account got very friendly with me, saying she is from SoCal.
My wife is from SoCal. And from the beginning, she was like, no Desi woman in so cal has the Bombay Hindi vocabulary this woman has. It's definitely Behere who she flagged as creepy years ago.
I wrote a long thread with all the details. First the Poonam account, that also had all the signs of being a fake account, said "I assure you, she's real".
I said, respectfully, I don't know you so I can't take your word for it. "She" went ballistic, as did Devlina etc.
Dr. Ambedkar talked about how inter marriage is a very reliable way to annihilate discrimination.
Cos if most people marry outside their in-group, there would be no more in groups in 2 generations.
And white America is a great piece of evidence for his hypothesis.
To put it a bit crudely, the best strategy to annihilate discrimination is to pair up with someone outside your in-group, be it caste or race or whatever.
If we all fuck each other, we will end up like each other.
The thing is though, Rcom was a very good service!
It was cheap and good and reliable, like most things reliance for a customer.
That's the Adani-Ambani difference.
Gautam is just a Modi type thirsty huckster.
Mukesh etc are actual capitalists who do actual capitalism, & win.
I'm no fan of Ambani style crony capitalism, but at least Mukesh turns their jugaad into happy customers, happy investors, no matter which party is in power.
I still don't know what skill Gautam Adani has other than converting oxygen into carbon dioxide and liking Modi.
When I was in school, I had a rich friend who traveled a lot. Their family started a tourism business. And did a few slide shows on schools for us of their travel pics. In the 90s. Before social media or digital cameras.
A slide from Kenya REALLY made an impression on me...
That slide had them visiting the equator in Kenya
And there was a pic where someone had one foot in the northern hemisphere and other in the southern.
That just totally blew my mind! Instant bucket listing.
(Oh, remembered that @damlesafaris are on Twitter! Hi Amol!)
I used to dream about traveling with @damlesafaris to such places, but my family just did not have money then to even go to Nigdi Appu Ghar, forget Nanyuki Town.
That equator slide stayed with me forever.
I also will have legs in different hemispheres one day, I resolved!
