Jake Gardner, the Omaha bar owner who killed James Scurlock last night, has had multiple gun charges that were dropped or pled down to lesser offenses over the years.
In 2011, a charge of carrying a concealed weapon was reduced to disturbing the peace. In 2013, charges of failing to inform an officer of a concealed handgun, assault and battery, and damage to property were dropped and he was found guilty of disorderly conduct.
None of these charges impacted his ability to legally own a gun in Nebraska or procure a liquor license for his bars.

Don’t forget that Dakota County Sheriff Chris Kleinberg applied to enable his local office to act with the authority of ICE so he can run a concentration camp of his own in Nebraska.

Nobody is entitled to a news article singing their praises, @ZachW_KLKN. The media ignores vigils and honors every day. There was no reason to praise this man (& ignore his victim!) given the high likelihood you were praising a mother-killer where his kids would read it.
Imagine being in a home where your father shot your mother four times in the head, perhaps in front of you. Imagine reading a news article that doesn't talk about her but calls him a "good person" over and over.
Imagine how that devalues her and tells you the fear and shame and horror in your heart is inaccurate. Imagine being an abused woman and seeing your local news confirm that your husband will be believed automatically even after killing you.

There are many people who run this Twitter account, but now you do have Amanda Gailey on the line, and my byline was on the article, so where is the hiding? You literally ran an article w/o talking to anyone directly involved & spread the misinformation that he was a good person.
By the way, I don't think I have ever used this account before bc I hate Twitter and will soon hand the reins back to others. But I'd like to point out that you did not bother asking anyone directly involved before you made the assumption it was me tweeting...
So yes, you made that assumption and broadcast it but could not wait a few days before the police weighed in before praising a mother-killer despite there being a 94% chance he did it.

Do you have a reading comprehension problem? *You* faulted Seeing Red for not consulting *you* before criticizing your trash piece, so we pointed out that *you* did not consult *us* before criticizing our criticism. And you started this "troll" fight, sonny.
If you think a man deserves to have his praises sung despite the fact that there is a 94% chance he murdered his wife, you might be a misogynist. If you blast that he was "a good person" for his kids to see after he shot their mom in the head 4 times, you might be a misogynist.
If you don't do your homework and run a piece praising a mother-killer then call women "trolls" because they point out your trash, you might be a misogynist.
