If you're headed into a dedicated study period for the #USMLE, here are some points to consider before you get started...
Dedicated study is a time of exponential intellectual growth - it can be physically, mentally, and emotionally taxing, however it is so rewarding! 🙂
1. Embrace the 'practice as you perform' mindset! 🎯

Beginning UW & NBME blocks in the morning (with consistent breaks) similar to Prometric exam day can optimize your performance on exam day.

Doing questions in the AM will become 'like brushing your teeth' on exam day!
2. Have a systematic approach to doing & reviewing UW & NBME questions (including a note taking system).

Review incorrects first, then marked, then your corrects.

Set a timer of 75 minutes, and focus on how the vignette architecture relates to the educational objective ⏰
3. When you review an incorrect question, reflect on not only the content, but what in the vignette should have 'strayed you away' from picking the incorrect answer.

Create a venn diagram in your mind between the incorrect answer and the correct one 🔘
4. If you spend the time taking notes, make them vignette oriented. Try to only encompass three take home points from the UW explanation.

I also pay attention to the bold words in the explanation, and write those down first before diving into the explanation 𝌣
5. Ask yourself, how do the bold words in the UW explanation relate to how the vignette is written 🩺
6. Set a hard shut down time, and 2 hours of no study time.

We focus a lot on what we need to get done & when we are going to study. Start with when you are NOT going to study and build your daily routine from there 🧘🏼
7. Mindsets

Focus on the process > outcome.

Don't get too caught up in the pursuit of %s and three-digit scores.

Keep being reflective.

Have a mindset of gratitude and 'growth.'

Focus on micro-wins & celebrate them.

Consistency > intensity of studying.

Stay balanced.
You got this!

Build & rely on your support system.

Stay positive - congrats on getting to this stage of the journey! 🌅
