The British dismantled the territorial integrity of the tribes of the current Republic of Somaliland. They were in competition with other imperial powers like the French.

In their quest to unite the "somali" people, the Brits erased others such as the Afar, Borana, the Bantu, the Barawa etc (maybe these people should launch a lawsuit against the UK, their woes(ethnic cleansing & crimes against humanity) today stem from British imperialist agenda.

The handing over of the Haud & RA to Ethiopia blinded the politicians of British Somaliland with nationalism. They too believed in the concocted myth of the British of one "somali" race strewn over multiple geographical areas, how bizarre. Why would one large homogenous group be

in such far distances? Did it happen due to a natural phenomenon like a split of the earth etc? The traditional elders of British Somaliland, did not like the idea of unity. They remembered the havoc caused by the foreigner the mad mullah, he did not share their

traditions, culture and norms. He did not adhere to the customary law Biri ma gaydo.The politicians of the state of Somaliland disregarded this warning, and this caused the marginalization of their people from the start. Somalilanders were denied equity while their resources were

squandered in somalia. The myth of homogeneity is now crumbling. The world is realizing this lie was propagated by imperialists to control resources of a people they forced together (think of the Nigeria case)

Different cultures at play here. Were "somalis" a homogenous society, would they have treated each other with such disregard? Somalian politicians from day one, before siad barre, set out to marginalize Somalilanders. Different ethnicities at play here

Homogenous groups do not commit a genocide on each other. Bipolar communities do. Read on the Hutu & Tutsi etc
