8. Fast forward to now! Why is the current Republic of Somaliland seen as a defacto state? This stems from the false narrative prepared ahead, on a one Somalia before imperialism. The name somalia in itself was dubbed by a Italian explorer Luigi Robecchi Brichetti in 1892.

He borrowed the root name Somali when he visited Zeila then in Ardul/ Darel Somali. He named Benadir, somalia. 1852 map does not deem current Somalia the land of somalis! The British were flagrant!

9. When the #SNM liberated their country, the former state of Somaliland, they immediately embarked on a task of clearing mine fields and repatriation of their refugees from Ethiopia. They said no to the intervention of the UN. They did not anticipate the IC would buy the false

narrative they were unilaterally seceding, putting them in a defacto state. The #SNM were lawful liberators who followed the protocol of National liberation movements & that adhered to the Geneva convention. The 1991 Burco conference of reinstating sovereignty was a culmination

of 39 peace & democratic conferences done via indigenous means. BRILLIANT. The current republic of Somaliland is not a defacto state:

a. The SNM did not overthrow a legitimate government. Siad Barre was a coup leader (he was defacto leader who overthrew a quasi legitimate

government, I don't consider the unratified Somali republic legitimate, votes were rigged etc. I will have to study on this further.

b. They reinstated their sovereignty based on their 26th June 1960 borders, they never lost their independece 👇

c. subsequent governments of the Republic of Somaliland have not figured out that they struggle both with their internal/external politics because of the sanctions erroneously imposed on them by this de facto status.Once the IC realizes their mistske, the reversal will be swift

d. Current de facto states are Afghanistan under Taliban rule, Myanmar under the military Junta rule,coup leaders in Africa such as in Mali etc. Does the Republic of Somaliland fit in this basket? Absolutely NOT!

The #SNM handed over power peacefully to civilian rule after 2 yrs

Peaceful elections with the transfer of power amongst 5 presidents is the reality of the Republic of Somaliland. It is higher on multiple indexes of Freedom house as pertains to liberty several years in a row, beating recognized,de jure counterparts in the HoA. What a FEAT!

The Republic of Somaliland is a De Jure independent state. It did not secede from a somalia that existed prior to imperialism. It is a continuation of the state of Somaliland that gained independence on 26th June 1960.
