A story told by judges who proceeded over rape cases.
“As the gentlemen on the jury will understand, when a woman says no she doesn’t always mean it. Men can’t turn their emotions on and off like a tap like some women can” - Judge Raymond Dean
“It seems, on the evidence, that this child has not suffered as a result of these offences” - Judge Hutton
Rape of an 8 year old.
“You showed concern and consideration by wearing a contraceptive” - Judge Arthur Myerson
Rapist given a lighter sentence for protection
“If someone doesn’t want to have sexual intercourse, the body shuts down. The body will not permit that to happen unless a lot of damage is inflicted... the victim in this case, although she wasn’t necessarily willing, she didn’t put up a fight." - Judge Derek Johnson
“She has admitted that she used to do all dirty things. It appears that she was inherently abnormal and had xesual instinct from her childhood” - Judge Sadhana Jadhav
"Why couldn’t you just keep your knees together?"
"Why didn’t you just sink your bottom down into the basin so he couldn’t penetrate you?"
"Pain and sex sometimes go together."
- Judge Robin Camp
"The court has no doubt that Mr Vallejo is an extraordinarily good man... But great men sometimes do bad things." - Judge Thomas Low
Said to a 2 time convicted rapist.
"Did you close your legs firmly? Did you close off your female organs?" - Judge María del Carmen Molina Mansilla
“Other than the ramifications of losing her virginity, which the court does not find to be especially serious harm,” the girl “did not suffer any physical or emotional injuries.” -Judge Marcia
Rape of a 12 year old by a 16 year old
"Women should avoid dressing like sluts in order not to be victimized." - Michael Sanguinetti
Not a judge. But a police officer.
“I hope you’ll be able to keep your well-paid job and the couple of weeks you spend in prison will be treated by employers as part of your holidays” - Judge Gabriel Hutton
To a convicted rapist.
“This was a rare sort of rape. It is not like someone being jumped on in the street. This is within the family and does not impinge on the public.” - Sir Kenneth Jupp
To a convicted rapist accused by his wife.
Welcome to the reason why women don’t come forward.

81 years ago today, Executive Order 9066 authorized the forced removal and internment of Japanese Americans on the West Coast. After 5 years of being unlawfully incarcerated and stripped of their rights and livelihood they were given $25 dollars and a
one way train ticket with no home, job or way to feed their children. After a country dehumanized and deprived rights of over 120,000 men, women and children, they threw them back into a created world who openly racially discriminated against them.
Japanese communities within refuge cities embraced people they didn’t know. They took care of their own. This included my grandparents and their family. This is our American origin horror story.
I was just on the train on the way home from work and all the seats were taken. So I stood next to a door against one of the rails. Per usual, I’m listening to music and strolling thru Twitter. Out of fucking nowhere this large dude puts one hand
on the rail and one hand on the door cornering me in. So I take a deep breath, look up and he smiles and starts talking. “Hey, you have nice hair, do you think I look nice?” I reply “thank you - no, and you’re too close”. He then proceeds to ask me why I’m not nicer and leans
in closer. Mind you, it’s a packed train car. At this point I assess my surroundings and situation and look for a way out. I am a 4’10” and he had to be at least 6”. So I know getting physical isn’t an option on a packed car. I ask him to back off and go away, loudly.
There are a lot of things that happened last week that have been hard to process. Im going to apologize now for this long thread, but the need to get it out is over abundant because most of it was just not fucking acceptable. 🧵
We learned that Kate Moss is the sanest person Johnny Depp has ever dated… even after all of that heroin. That Maga has revealed itself as a tiered system and have chosen the pronouns of ULTRA and DARK. How very woke of them.
We learned that it takes 40 minutes for trained police to enter into a school and take down an active shooter, but not until after he kills 19 children and two teachers. Oh and pulling out their own children first, all because they were afraid of being shot. So were those kids.
It’s incredibly tragic how many people have commented for me to just keep my legs closed today. That’s their educated rebuttal. What they don’t understand is that they are in for a rude awakening. Realize that the overturn of Roe v Wade means that we will fight. 🧵
Fight for the rights to our bodies. How we will demand better healthcare for single mothers. How we will demand harder legislation on men that don’t take responsibility. How we will demand more government assistance. How we will demand for more male contraception.
We will demand schools and child care to cost less because of population inflation. We will demand a better justice system. We will demand a better life for a life we didn’t want and were forced into. It will come out of the pockets of both red and blue states.
