Statement:

I’m back after spending 4.5 months in Ahmedabad Central Jail.

Why?

Because the Gujarat Police & the ED unleashed on me by the BJP arrested me in a case of Rs. 500. filed by a Gujarat Govt official claiming to be a donor.

(1/10)
Of the 1700 people that crowdfunded me between 2019-20, a complaint of Rs. 500 by ONE donor (incidentally a Gujarat Govt official) was used to charge me with “money laundering”.

Sadly for the BJP, these months of imprisonment didn’t break me like they wanted.

(2/10)
I’m confident of my innocence & have immense faith in our judiciary which I trust will give me justice.

I have done my work with the greatest dedication through all these years.

And I’ll continue to do the work I’ve always done with the same spirit.

(3/10)
During my bail hearing, an institution no less than the Supreme Court of India asked the govt of India that: “Gokhale is known for his RTI campaigns. Why do you want to keep him behind bars”?

There can be no greater validation for me than this.

(4/10)
I was arrested 3 times in December by Gujarat Police in a span of 20 days.

That Gujarat Police would book someone who has never been to Gujarat isn’t surprising since that state is BJP’s laboratory for persecution.

I’ve seen the “Gujarat Model” closely while in jail.

(5/10)
The ED was then unleashed on my like it has been on several Opposition leaders by the BJP over the past few years.

I’m proud that despite several attempts by the BJP to get me to jump into their “washing machine”, I kept my integrity & chose to suffer prison instead.

(6/10)
I was attacked in jail on 4 occasions but I was determined not to back down.

The main purpose of BJP in jailing me was to try and silence me.

I feel sorry for them if they assumed that I’m as weak as their coterie of “washing machine”-returned leaders.

(7/10)
All that BJP has done is removed the fear of jail and persecution from my heart. A man with no fear is to be feared.

A 130 days in jail aren’t going to stop me from fighting against BJP which is determined to subvert the Constitution of India & our democracy.

(8/10)
I’m a proud soldier of a team led by @MamataOfficial & @abhishekaitc. Backing down from a righteous battle is not in our DNA.

I’m indebted to my leaders, my guardian angel @derekobrienmp & my party @AITCofficial #TMC for supporting me & my family through all this.

(9/10)
I’m back and ready to fight the good fight. I’m confident that justice will eventually be delivered - to me for my innocence as well as to the BJP for all their sins.

I’m grateful as ever for all your love and support.

Onwards, upwards, & back to the good fight.

I was arrested on orders of BJP, got bail, re-arrested, & got bail again - all in a span of 4 days. I’m grateful to the Hon’ble judiciary for upholding my liberty.

BJP is hilariously mistaken if they thought this would break me.

I’m only going to come at them harder. 😊

I was given no notice for 5 days after an FIR was filed in Ahmedabad. The police told me that the IB was tracking me & told CISF to intercept me at Jaipur airport.

Ahmedabad Police who were in Delhi for a different case were told to rush to Jaipur to arrest me.

(2/8)
A frivolous case was filed for sharing a tweet made by someone else. Funnily the police have no clue who that person is.

The aim was to find a way to target me, throw me into jail, and keep me there.

This is the Modi & Shah textbook perfected in UP & Gujarat.

Shocking:

How India changed policy & tacitly supported ivory trade for importing cheetahs from Namibia.

In Sep, India got 8 cheetahs from Namibia. Reportedly, as part of the deal, Namibia asked India’s help on legalizing ivory trade.

I filed an RTI for a copy of the MoU

(1/4) Image
In the RTI response, Modi govt refused to give a copy of the MoU stating that it could affect relations between India & Namibia.

Now, why would a legally-signed MoU affect relations between 2 countries?

Because they didn’t want us to know the “conditions” of the deal.

(2/4) Image
And, shockingly, on November 22, India reversed our policy on trade of ivory (elephant tusks) & ABSTAINED on a resolution seeking a ban on ivory trade.

For bringing cheetahs to “celebrate PM Modi’s birthday”, India has now tacitly endorsed poaching of elephants.

How Twitter enables BJP's hate speech in India:

Under IT Rules, 2021, Twitter is required to have a grievance officer to take complaints.

Note: these complaints are DIFFERENT from the tweets reported by users using "report tweet" button.

Let's see how Twitter fares 👇
In July, Twitter received grievances regarding 536 complaints of harassment & abuse.

How many did Twitter act on out of these 536?
ONLY 42 complaints.

Also, out of 134 hate speech complaints, Twitter acted on ONLY 22 complaints.

(1/4)
For August, here's the data:

Harassment & abuse complaints: 874
How many acted upon? ONLY 70

Hate speech complaints: 303
How many acted upon? ONLY 12

Shameless scam - how BJP is illegally giving prime Lutyens Delhi govt housing to its workers & RSS functionaries:

MPs in India are temporarily allowed to avail of "guest accommodation" for incoming visitors during Parliament Sessions

Here's how BJP is shamelessly misusing it 👇
These details are from info provided to me by the Lok Sabha Secretariat which gave me a list of who is occupying "guest accommodation" for years on recommendation of BJP MPs.

Remember again - these are prime Lutyens Delhi govt-owned properties

(1/11)
Let's start with:

1. Ram Madhav

He's national executive member of RSS deputed to the BJP primarily for handling North-East India. He also runs a "think-tank".

He's been given THREE Lutyens properties at Twin Flat Nos. 27-29, South Avenue and SQ No. 159, South Avenue

Some details on why the Modi Govt released the rape & murder convicts in the Bilkis Bano case & refuses to back down 👇

A pregnant Bilkis Bano was raped & members of her family including a 3-year-old baby were murdered by the accused men during the 2002 Gujarat Pogrom.

(1/6)
Bilkis got no justice until the NHRC & Supreme Court took cognizance & ordered a CBI probe.

CBI arrested the accused but there were concerns that witnesses could be scared & evidence tampered in Gujarat under Modi & Shah who had inspired these accused and the 2002 pogrom

(2/6)
Supreme Court acknowledged these concerns & transferred the case out of Gujarat to a special CBI court in Mumbai.

CBI court sentenced 11 accused to life imprisonment.

This was a clear indictment of Modi & Shah govt in Gujarat & how they manipulated all institutions

How Modi govt shamelessly used our dead jawans to raise money for a private trust 👇

In 2017, Akshay Kumar started a pvt fund called "Bharat Ke Veer" to solicit contributions for jawans killed in action.

In 2018, Home Ministry gave it the status of "tax exempt trust."

(1/8)
Bharat Ke Veer website only says NOTHING about the trustees except that they are "eminent people" without mentioning names

In 2018, Akshay Kumar & badminton coach Pullela Gopichand were made trustees

A Canadian citizen decides how much compensation families of jawans get

(2/8)
Now lets see how much Bharat Ke Veer has accumulated from public contributions & how much has been given to families of fallen jawans.

(a) In 2019-20, the Fund had ₹285 crores.

Of this, ONLY ₹40 lacs was given to families of fallen jawans.
