cloak (which is made of silk!) and sneaked out of the room. The servants seemed to notice him and bow as he passes through them. He gazed at the windows as he passed through the hallway, admiring the flowers by the side, noting that one of them is his favorite.
‘Does his wife
have the same similarities as I do?’ Kdj thought, ‘It must’ve been a coincidence.’
He had noticed that the character he’s in has some similarities, such as the appearance, albeit healthier than he has in real life, considering he’s possibly treated well.
“Your majesty!”
One of the maids, Sys, ran up to him as he turned to the hallway.
“Shin...Yoosoung..?” Kdj murmured, his mind replaying the passage within the novel of her gruesome death at the hands of Yjh.
[“Your majesty,” Sys choked out, as she was held up high by Yjh, whose face has
darkened with unrecognizable evil. Sys’ vision blurred, as she felt her chest being ripped out by his hands. The last thing she ever sees was his demeaning stare as she fell into the abyss.]
‘Ah, she was the former servant in Yjh’s castle that Biyoo had met through her
journeys, and she saved Biyoo by giving her time to escape, which led to her death, ’ Kdj thought, as Sys stopped in front of him with a tray filled with cookies.
He stared at her bright eyes and his heart dropped knowing that his husband would be killing this precious child in
the future. He reached out and pat her head, trying to let her know she did a great job.
“..Your majesty?” Sys questioned, confused. Kdj blinked and pulled his hand away.
“M-My apologies,” Kdj stuttered. He has a soft spot for kids, so he couldn’t really help it, as she
reminded him of Lgy, his neighbor that is approximately the same age as her.
“It is alright, your majesty. Truthfully, I was surprised to see you out,” Sys bowed her head.
Kdj raised a brow. Was the wife some sort of a hermit crab? He does notice that he has a paler appearance
than his usual skin as if he wasn’t outside too much.
‘Oh god,’ Kdj thought, ‘Did he.. Lock me up? That would make sense. He acted so possessively when he carried me through the castle, and how he acted when I woke up, and the excessive marks on my skin! He’s the type to claim
the mark as if he’s giving me a reminder that I will never escape him!’
Before Kdj could scream more inwardly, Sys shook his head, “Oh no, you’re always in the library as you wait for his majesty to be finished with his meeting. He’s always a busy ruler, but he always made sure
that he spends time with you every day.”
“He..does?” Kdj murmured, surprised.
“Yes, you’re always his first priority, your majesty.”
Kdj couldn’t help but look down at the now empty plate, staring at his blurry reflection. From the novel’s perspective, Yjh is always
as an apathetic person, never to deter by a simple emotion, as displayed by killing his first wife (which will be his future if he doesn’t escape), sacrificing his civilians to become stronger as a demon king, etc.
Yet here he is, being the receiver of Yjh’s affections and
love, confirmed by the servants.
“I-I see,” Kdj breathed, “I’m going to get some fresh air into the garden, will you come with me?”
“Oh, of course, your majesty, let me discard these plates first if I may?” Sys offered, as Kdj shook his head.
“I’ll come with you,” With that,
both of them started to walk to the kitchen. Sys gazed at Kdj, who is staring ahead with a half-dazed expression as if he was shocked by her revelation.
‘It seems that his majesty hasn’t really changed at all,’ Sys thought, albeit sorrowfully.
__
It was around the afternoon
when Kdj decided to go to the streets to check out Yjh’s impact. He was expecting any type of animosity within the civilians or desolated area but he was greeted with a warm smile, an offering of goods and flowers, and a happy city. Once again Kdj was shocked, although he had
grown to get used to it.
Yjh seems to be a great ruler and the country is still in its golden era under his rule. However, Kdj doesn’t know how long it’ll last.
As he looked around the area, noting the exits and the gates, which are heavily guarded, he heard his name
getting called.
“Dokja?”
Kdj turned and saw Swk staring at him with a joyous expression. He somewhat knows this muscular man. In the novel, he remembered him being one of the main characters, who are Biyoo’s most trusted comrade within their team, and later on in the novel,
he was shown to have a huge contempt for Yjh, but it was never revealed why.
And he’s about to discover the reason.
Swk’s smile brightened like a sun, making Kdj blink as he was pressed into a broad chest, engulfed within a huge hug.
“How’s my little brother doing?”
‘He’s the older brother of Yjh’s first wi-well, my older brother?’ Kdj gaped inwardly, ‘Well shit, this explains everything.’
He remembered that Swk vaguely explained to Biyoo one late night after their encounter with Yjh. Swk had gone rampant during the fight and he went
slightly insane. Biyoo had to snap him out of it.
[As he sat by the fire, his eyes showed sorrow. He looked like his true age, filled with the burden and wounds from the darker days.
“He took someone precious away from me, Biyoo,” Swk murmured, gazing at the dancing fire. His
voice broke the silence apart from the snoring of their fellow comrades.
“He took somebody away from me, and I will never forgive him for it, no matter what.”]
‘I guess he meant... Me?’ Kdj thought.
Realizing he hasn’t answered for a while, he snapped out of his thoughts.
“I- Sorry, I was thinking of something.” Kdj blinked, as Swk laughs.
“No matter,” He lightly slaps his back, “I’m just glad you’re looking as great as usual. Do you have time to chat or you’re too busy~?”
Kdj scoffs at his teasing, “Of course I have time.”
‘Maybe I could
learn more from him,’ Kdj thought, as they strolled on the bustling streets.
“Hyung, how is… Our parents lately?” Kdj asked, feeling awkward and unsure.
‘Fuck, do we even have our parents here?’ He thought, panicking.
Swk hummed, “They’re doing alright, although they and
the Underworld misses you terribly, dear brother.”
While ingesting the new information in his mind, Kdj felt warm, despite only knowing who they are from the novel, “I missed them too.”
There was a moment of silence between them before Swk broke it with a hum as if he were deep
in thought.
"Hm?" Kdj asks.
“It seems that his majesty is treating you alright,” Swk mused. Kdj tilted his head in confusion.
“What do you mean by that, Hyung?”
Swk pursued his lips.
“It’s just, I was worried when they announced an arranged marriage so that both of the families would finally settle the long rivalry, and I thought it was ridiculous especially when you sacrificed yourself for it. I thought that he would mistreat you, but it seems that I was
mistaken.”
He gave Kdj a smile, “Of course, if he causes you any problems, don’t hesitate to run to your hyung!”
Kdj laughs, feeling reassured and comforted. He inwardly wished that he has Swk as his older brother.
‘The Kim Dokja in this universe surely is a lucky one,’ Kd
j thought. Both of them continued to stroll and talk, sharing peals of laughter and jokes along the way. The civilians smiled seeing the sibling's bonding moment, knowing that both of them are extremely close.
__
Kdj sat by the chair need the window, as he mindlessly flipped
through the book.
‘So the Kim Dokja of this universe belongs in a royal family of the Underworld. Well, at least they’re a loving one,’ Kdj smiled bitterly, ‘How lucky of “me.”’
He then remembered about Swk revealing a piece of information about their marriage.
‘So our marriage was arranged as a truce between families, which explains the peace it has as of now,’ Kdj thought, ‘I remember the Underworld being the Yoo’s number one rival, and the top one army leading against Yjh in the final arc. Well, considering it is said that I got
killed by his hands, this explains their brutal actions a lot now.’
Kdj leaned back against the chair and sighed.
‘All of this is quite surprising, but it doesn’t really deter me from escaping my own death, no matter what the price may be.’
He then traced the pattern of
the illustration within the book, ‘The gates are heavily guarded in between the peak of morning and night, albeit the afternoon is more relaxed due to the break time they would have and exchange shifts, to sneak out easily, I would have to try learning concealing magic and
maybe use my hood?’
Kdj shook his head after imagining it.
‘No, it might be suspicious,’ He thought, ‘Maybe we’ll pretend to collect herbs from beyond the gate? That could work..’
Before Kdj could think more about it, familiar arms wrapped around his waist, causing him to
squeak.
“Byul,” Yjh murmured, kissing his neck.
‘Fuck, I forgot about this guy,’ Kdj thought, facepalming inwardly.
“J-Joonghyuk,” He stuttered, seeing Yjh frown a little.
“Where is my nickname?”
‘What fucking nickname?’ Kdj cried inwardly. He only knew that his nickname
is Byul, wife, and he doesn’t even know what the hell his nickname is gonna be during their bed escapades. He decided to yeet his life out of the window as he utter,
“M-My dear husband?”
Yjh hummed in satisfaction, nuzzling his nose against his nape.
‘Close call!’ Kdj sighed,
ignoring his beating heart, which is beating faster because of nervousness, not because of his oh-so-dearest husband nuzzling him, visibly happy seeing his dearest wife.
“Where have you been all day?” Yjh murmured, “I was looking for you after the meeting ended, but you weren’t
at the library.”
“Ah,” Kdj responded, “I was with Hyung.”
“Sun Wukong,” Yjh said, “Ah, I did see him earlier outside. Is he checking up on you?”
“More or less,” Kdj simply responded.
‘And gave me a lot of information too.’
Yjh hummed, leaving multiple kisses on his nape,
causing Kdj to shiver, and closing his eyes. Sensing a mood between them, his lip slowly moved to his exposed shoulder, nipping on the bare skin. Realizing what he was doing, Kdj’s eyes snapped open and pushed Yjh away, causing him to let out a sound of confusion.
“U-Uh, I’m sorry,” Kdj winced, “I’m not really in the mood tonight.”
Yjh blinked, before nodding, arranging his attire neatly.
“You must be stressed from today and your nightmares from earlier, do take some rest.” He responded.
“What about you..?”
“I’ll be doing my remaining
paperwork before I join you,” Yjh leaned down to kiss his forehead, “Do not fret, I will try not to overwork again.”
With those words, he left, leaving a flustered and disheveled Kdj. He slapped his cheeks, thinking,
‘No, I can’t be in love with him, he’s gonna kill me!’
However, his mind thinks otherwise.
__
It’s been a week ever since that night.
Yjh furrowed his brows as he watch Kdj shuffle away after the meeting. It’s been days since he’s acting like this. He tries to recall any incident that would have caused him to become more fidgety
around him, but nothing really popped into his mind. At first, he thought he needed time after that night, which he utterly respects, but it grew into avoiding his affections into avoiding his presence in general.
He remembered trying to embrace Kdj from behind a few days ago,
only for him to quickly slip, yelling, “My apologies!”
Tried leaving a smooch on his cheeks? Dodged it.
Trying to cuddle in their sleep? Somehow Kdj was sleeping on the very edge of the bed without falling.
Just a few minutes ago?
“I’ll quickly gather some herbs for
Seolhwa-ssi, your majesty.”
He remembered damn well that Lsh has all the herbs prepared yesterday, so what the hell?
‘Also, just your majesty, and not “my husband?” Or “Joonghyuk-ah?”’
If anyone had seen Yjh pout that time, they rather not say it for fear of the infamous
death glare of Yoo.
It frustrates and saddens him to see their distance growing larger every time.
‘What happened?’
He sighed as he strolled around the garden, gazing at the rows of flowers. He reminisced their wedding, Kdj in a beautiful silk white wedding gown, adorned by
the natural beauty of his being.
He was beautiful, truly so. He remembered his heart pumping loudly as he removed the veil, amazed by such beauty existing within the cursed world. His eyes were filled with anxiety, and Yjh knows how he feels, so he tried to soothe him.
It was inevitable that he would fall in love with Kdj. He had learned about him as they spent their time together, and the biggest thing he had learned is his self-doubt.
Yjh spent loving him for years, so why is his self-doubt back once more?
‘Could it be the nightmare
he had seen?’ Yjh narrowed his eyes, ‘What could’ve been that made his mind regress that much?’
He knew that Kdj hasn’t fallen out of love yet. He could see his body expressions, or his flustered expression, still acting the same way whenever they were affectionate. The only
the difference was his eyes, which now held anxiety and... Fear. Like, he’s hiding something from him.
Even some people, specifically Sys, had noticed his behavior. Just what’s going on?
“Oi.”
He slowly turned, only to see a familiar woman carrying a spellbook, wearing a witch
hat merged within the shadows. It’s his right-hand person and his court mage, who is–
“Han Sooyoung.”
The said woman smirked as she stepped out into the sunlight, slowly revealing her features.
“What got your face looking so constipated, your majesty?” She asked, saying his title in a drawled manner.
Yjh scoffed, looking away. For a few seconds, he muttered,
“..It’s about Kim Dokja.”
Hsy’s teasing attitude turned serious as she heard her favorite person’s name.
“What’s up? Is it about days ago?”
“That and,” Yjh sighed, as he sat down on the nearby bench, “He’s been acting distant lately.”
“Huh? When did it start?”
“...About nearly a week ago.”
Hsy’s eyes widened at the information. “What a coincidence.”
Yjh turned to her,
“What do you mean?”
“How do I explain this,” Hsy sighed, pinching the bridge of her nose as she tries to compose an answer, “You know that I sense all this magic shit because of my powers?”
“Like some sort of disturbance, almost like,” Hsy murmured, “An intervention of sorts?”
Before he could think more about what Hsy said,, he heard loud panic calls from his guards, particularly Jhw and Lhs. Alerted, both turned to them, seeing them panting.
“What happened?” Yjh asked as he stood up.
“H-His majesty,” She panted, “His majesty got kidnapped!”
Yjh’s blood turned cold, as he turned to Hsy, who wore the same expression.
__
Half an hour earlier,
__
Kdj sighed as he trudged out of the door. He never gets used to
the intense stare Yjh gave him, and he could already guess why.
His heart feels slightly pained from trying to distance himself from him, but it’s the best he could do so he can dodge his supposed fate.
He strolled through the gates, covering his own face with the hood of his
cloak, sneaking through the crowd with the help of the concealing magic he had learned from the book, which he later learned was from Hsy.
At most, the guards stared at him with a weird expressions before looking at everyone else. Kdj sighed as he slipped through the trees
and into a windy path. In all honesty, he didn’t really think much of it through, especially when he successfully slipped through with the excuse. He knew that Yjh had grown suspicious of him, so he decided to get out as soon as possible.
As he trudged through the path,
he couldn’t help but shiver as if someone was watching him. He turned his back, only seeing the fading view of the town.
Suddenly, he is hit with a huge wave of fatigue. Before he could think more about it, he felt a warm hand wrapped around his mouth, murmuring, “What a
coincidence I found you here, Queen Dokja.”
With those words, he lost consciousness.
__
Kdj groaned as he felt a sting on his cheek, trying to turn on his side, but soon felt that he was restricted from doing so. Blinking, he slowly opens his eyes, only to find a darkened room
, filled with candles that surround him. He found himself sitting, chained with his hands tied on his back, and a person standing next to him.
He looked, only to see a familiar face, looking at him with an apologetic expression.
‘Min Jiwon?’ From what he remembers, she was
mentioned in the novel in a sort of remembrance, as she was one of the victims during the massacre involving Salvation’s Church at some point in the novel.
“I’m so sorry,” She whispered, her voice barely heard, “I had no choice, your majesty.”
“Choice?” Kdj murmured before he
heard a burst of elegant laughter from the corner.
“How atrocious, your majesty,” The words were spitted in pure disdain, “To think you have come this far with such a defenseless appearance.”
Kdj blinked, as the figure emerged from the darkness, revealing their long blond hair,
their golden eyes, with a familiar robe.
‘Wait, this appearance, this scowl, this is..’
“Nirvana,” Kdj deadpanned, as Nirvana laughs.
“How arrogant of you to say my name like this, Kim Dokja.” They drawled, as they grabbed his chin, tilting it up, “Such an undeserving
attitude for his majesty."
They then laugh, “Oh, but then again, it was all nothing but an arrangement to simply propose a truce. After all,” They leaned to his ear, “He would be back by himself when you’re gone.”
Kdj looked at him, confused, “What do you mean by that?”
“Yoo Joonghyuk should’ve been a graceful leader, all ruthless, no mercy,” They sighed as if they were infatuated–no–obsessed with Yjh, which they are.
"Yet," Nirvana spatted, "Your presence made him weak, so I decided I'll be rid of you, and he'll come back to me, to
accept my full love!"
Their words made Kdj shudder in disgust, hating how Nirvana would talk like Yjh is nothing but a toy for them. It’s not love no matter how much Nirvana would proclaim.
It’s an obsession. He couldn’t help but feel twisted as if those words feel so wrong
for him.
Is this jealousy?
“Ah fucking hell, no wonder I hated you in the novel,” Kdj murmured.
“What did you say?”
“Ah, nothing.”
Nirvana gritted their teeth, as they pulled out a familiar blade. Kdj’s eyes widened, immediately knowing what it is.
It’s a ritual blade.
It’s a common one that is used to summon any otherworldly monsters from another dimension, and this specific one is for demons.
Kdj’s mind started to connect some dots. The ritual room from the novel, the Salvation Church’s motives involving himself, the knife, and his own
situation..
‘Wait,’ Kdj’s eyes widened, ‘If I’m here right now, this means Yoo Joonghyuk did not kill me to summon the demon for power, Nirvana kidnapped the first wife, which is me right now and killed me to summon the demon?’
“What the hell do you need the demon for anyways?”
Kdj blurted out.
“For it can help me and Joonghyuk become one,” Nirvana moaned, making Kdj gag.
‘Yeah fuck no, I rather die by Joonghyuk’s giant cock, what the fuck is this,’ Kdj shuddered, ‘Ok Kim Dokja, think! How the fuck would I ever escape in this damn situation..’
He starts to look around, as Nirvana continued to muse about their goals, then noticed Mjw sneakily give him a small dagger, enough to cut the rope from the blade. He briefly sends her a thankful look before silently starting to cut it up.
“Now,” Kdj started, trying to distract
Nirvana, “Why would you want to become one with my husband?”
They turned to him with a deadly glare, “You don’t deserve to be his husband, he deserves much, much better.”
Kdj raised a brow as he was halfway through the rope, “And you think you’re better?”
This made Nirvana
float towards him at an uncanny speed, grabbing his chin, “I am the best choice for him, and will always be.”
“Well thank you for the laughs Nirvana,” Kdj lowered his head, “Unfortunately..”
He swiftly swiped his blade, chopping Nirvana’s hand off, causing them to unleash an
unholy scream.
"Your plan is bullshit."
Kdj swiftly attacked the other members that made a move towards him, seeing Mjw frozen in fear, as he moves to protect her. However, he was pulled by back his hair, making him scream in pain.
“You cheeky brat,” Nirvana growled, their voice distorted, “How about I will make you unholy, and he will be mine instead of you.”
They slammed Kdj’s head into the floor, making Kdj dizzy, feeling the blood trickle down the broken skin. He panted as he dazedly stared at Nirvana
raising the blade.
“Goodbye, Kim Dokja.”
Before they could swing the blade down, the wall in front of them crashed, the debris distracting Nirvana, and before they could blink, a lance tabbed their shoulder in full force, pinning them to the wall with another scream.
Kdj blinked as a muscular figure slowly trudged towards the room, carrying his signature ru yi bang, revealing a familiar face.
“Stay away from my brother,” Nirvana Moebius," A deep voice growled.

He remembered forcibly closing the web novel app in frustration, throwing the phone on the bed when he read the ending. He honestly finds the ending of the book
fast-paced, plus the sudden plot twist feels incomplete. Not only it was unexpected, but the reaction of the hero, whose name is Biyoo, was lackluster. Plus, it definitely lacked a lot of information or lore from the side characters he finds important, especially the main
antagonist, and his motives. Like why did he do all of this, what was his true purpose? There was a brief description of how he once ruled a prosperous kingdom before he fell into darkness, but it never revealed an event that caused it. Alas, it was never revealed, because he
