The face of a Stone Age woman reconstructed from a 4,000-year-old skull found in Sweden.
For millennia, a woman rested undisturbed in a stone grave in Sweden's northeastern forests. She followed animal migrations and the Indalsälven river. In her thirties, she was buried with a young boy, possibly her son, around seven years old.
Archaeologist Oscar Nilsson scanned the ancient skull to reconstruct the Stone Age woman. He meticulously crafted a life-sized replica and applied clay to depict her facial muscles, a process that consumed 300 hours to accomplish.
