Kim dokja was born into a noble family which is the 5th highest in the kingdom. He was loved by everyone until they found out he was nothing but an beta. His father was furious and ignored him for his whole life after knowing the truth. Everyone would go whisperi-

whispering about kim dokja wherever kdj went. Even rumours have said that he was an illegitimate child. Kdj hated all their comments and always stayed in the library, reading his books.

He would only receive his food once the maids leave and left them infront of his door.

Every lousy alpha would send marriage proposals that can ruin his father's reputation and he didn't like this at all and kdj was to blame for. This all happened till he was 19.

Until one day, his father called for him. Kdj didn't know why but he was absolutely scared cause it-

was his first time calling for him after 14 years. Kdj knocked before the door as he entered, stiffening his back.
Kdj: "..You called for me, father?"
The duke scoffed and turned to him, scowling.
Duke: "Don't even call me your father."
Kdj stiffened, his heart throbbing

Was it really that bad to know he was an beta?
Kdj: "..Yes, Duke. You called for me?"
Duke: "Indeed. I have called you here cause now that you are old enough to have a marriage, you will be marrying the crown prince. He has sent a proposal for you."

The crown prince, sent a marriage proposal, for HIM? But why?? He doesn't even know him for as long as he could remember.
Kdj: "F-forgive me Duke, but I don't want to marry the crown prince, I don't even know hi-"
Duke: "SILENCE."

Kdj was quick

To shut his mouth but he still had a lot to say. How could his own father sell him off like this??

Duke: "It was never an option for you to choose if you wanted to marry him or not. You will do it either you like it or not."

Kdj was so furious, he wanted to cry and just leave.

Kdj: "Your grace, please I beg.."

The duke didn't hear any further and whispered to him. "this is the least you can do after being born as a beta. You will meet him tomorrow so prepare yourself. Don't embarrass me."

Once he was done, kdj left his office furiously.

Kdj wanted to run away than to marry this so called damn crown prince. He heard rumours how he killed people he didn't like without hesitation like he was some kind of beast. Who would want to marry to some kind of beast??

Kdj then had an idea and packed his stuff. Oh was he-

When the next day came, kim dokja was exhausted. Every servants who bad mouthed him just a few days ago started to dress him up as if he was some kind of doll. It took them 3 hours till they were done and satisfied-

And kdj was absolutely stunning. He wore a gorgeous white dress along with some gloves and jewelled accessories.
It wasn't too fancy and kdj kinda liked it. It was just such a bother to do this whole thing when it was so early. The duke then called him to prepare and meet the

Crown prince cause he has arrived. Kdj nodded and waited till he left. Once he did, kdj climbed down the window and landed on the garden safely along with his packed stuff that he packed last night.

Kdj thought he was free and all he had to do was run away but there was a garden

wall blocking his way. He had no where else to try and escape from so he tried climbing the wall but ofcourse he failed.

Kdj tried again but landed on the ground once more. Kdj was about to give up and was ready to die-
??: "Hello, my lady"
He was handsome, tall, dressed up-

all elegant like he was some kind of noble. Kdj noticed him from behind and took a step back.
Kdj: "Who are you? Are you a trespasser? How did you get in here."

The man simply stepped closer and looked at kdj. Oh how kdj hated to admit but the way his eyes were looking at

him was breathtaking.
??: " What are you doing out here with a...bag?"
Kdj: "Nothing."

The guy then looked up and down at kdj, seeing his dress was covered with leaves.

??: " You were doing something. "
Kdj: "I wasn't!"
??: "You were-"
Kdj: "Fine! If you must know, i'm trying-

to climb over this garden wall for some purposes."

The man was stunned for a while and laughed
??: "Climb.. Whatever for?"
Kdj: " I'm running away from a beast. "
??: "A beast?"
Kdj: " yes, an absolute beast who is cold around people. eugh i wouldn't want to meet him."

??: "..Who are we discussing-?"
Kdj: "...The damn crown prince. Clearly he is a blood thirsty beast who just wants war."

..they stood silent for a while until kdj looked over the garden wall and spotted a branch that was quite high but could reach the top. All he needs is help.

Kdj: " I'm sorry but could you assist me to lift me up right up there? "

Kdj lifted up half of his dress , ready to step to escape
??: " Uh, one question. Do you not like the beast? Don't you even care about his wealth or appearance?"
Kdj: "I do not care about wealth or his-

appearance, what i do not like is not knowing so help me out here. With a lift, i can escape from here-"
??: "You want me to lift you over the garden wall so you may escape?"
Kdj: "Obviously yeah, that is what i just said."
??: "The duke will notice your missing, will he not?"

Kdj: "I shall worry about that after i escape so if you please just help me-"
??: "I have absolutely no intention of helping you escape."

The guy then took a step forward, grinning.
Kdj: "..I am someone who is in need of help and wants to run away from this goddamn place and-

you refuse to help someone who's in distress?"
??: "I refuse when that someone is trying to escape over a garden wall so he does not have to marry me."

Oh fvck could this they get worse. Kdj stood there frozen until he realized what he meant
Kdj: " Y-you are-"

??: "Hello there, kim dokja. Greetings, I am Yoo Joonghyuk the crown prince."

Kdj wanted the ground to swallow him whole. Oh why did he said all those things about him?
Kdj: "I- I am deeply sorry,
Your highness-"
Kdj was about to bow until Yjh gently held kdj's hand, making-

Kdj look up at him.

Yjh: " Not your highness. But Joonghyuk."
