I'm fairly sick of people - particularly someone in that job - having a constant go at people of my childrens' generation. Compared to the hedonistic me me me of my own Generation X many of these young people are a cut above. I for one do believe that the children are our future.
Wow. And I was this many years old when I discovered that the song was originally written as the title song to a biopic about the life of Muhammad Ali and specifically his refusal to fight in Vietnam. Mind absolutely blown
Apologies - that was version 2. The original version penned by Linda Creed is describing her journey with breast cancer and the perspective it gave her on the world. What an absolutely remarkable story. americansongwriter.com/behind-the-mea….
Presumably Birbalsingh didn't bother to Google the meaning of the song and just assumed it was about 'me, me, me'. What a pity because it's a lyric with a remarkable story behind it.
Surprised that Katharine didn't fact check a quote ..... so out of character

"The most intolerant generation in history" .... I think the rest of history might want a word.
You'll be unsurprised to hear that he's now claiming he's been cancelled by a birthday party 🎉
When I was a teen there was a moral outrage over the Beastie Boys coming to the UK... panic that VW logos would get pinched off cars... and Frankie got banned for sexy lyrics all whipped up by the right wing press and Tory MPs. Don't get me started on Section 28 ...
That National Conservative lot have a statement of 10 principles. If you're wondering why so much religious stuff is coming out of their conference then look at principle 4
Powell also advocated voluntary re-emigration of black and Asian people aka "send them back" and advocated "generous grants and assistance" to do that... do you think that was a good thing ? @LeoKearse 2/3
And then having told an anecdotal and racist story about a constituent he predicted that there would be violence.... on account of immigration when in fact Britain became a very effective multicultural society instead. Although there's still work to be done via @britishfuture
So the blue tick now belongs only to people who paid for it.... and in the process it's just lost all its value and is going to make thousands of individuals the target of ridicule. Way to run a business @elonmusk
It's like Vanity Publishing - except that vanity publishers don't print THIS PERSON PAID FOR THIS BOOK TO BE PUBLISHED on the front cover of the book
And genuinely no disrespect to people who paid for one but I suspect that many will now be ditching it.
So this is strange. Those "refugee" homes in Rwanda appear to have been opened as an affordable housing project for locals last year. Have they simply been requisitioned for the British backed scheme?
