Just saw #TheLittleMermaid and Halle Bailey is absolute perfection! She embodies the heart and soul of Ariel and is a TRUE Disney princess. You see and FEEL her drive, courage, spirit and love. And she is singing DOOOWWWWNNN! Made me cry (again!)--truly magical✨🧜🏾♀️
I honestly was in awe every time Halle was on screen. And she has the acting chops to bring it all together. I wanted to protect Ariel at all costs! A little Black girl sitting next to me said she wanted to be a mermaid🥹🥹🫶🏾 PERFECT voice, PERFECT energy, PERFECT casting
Daveed Diggs' Sebastian and Awkwafina's Scuttle were perfect foils for each other and brought a lot of fun in the right moments. That said i absolutely hated the accent for Sebastian. Too much ms cleo tease for my taste. Also not the biggest fan of photorealistic, talking animals
Visually, the live action version of The Little Mermaid was gorgeous and the underwater scenes were well done. Great lighting and exceptional details in every frame. Halle's hair🤌🏾💜 Again some ✨jumpscares✨with some of the more jarring aquatic life but overall pretty.
Things that didn't land for me: Triton was flat. I wanted more from Ursula's characterization so was a bit disappointed. Flounder was virtually non existent. There were also a few weird shots and cheesy scenes that I questioned or unintentionally laughed at
That said, #TheLittleMermaid was a great live action adaptation and I recommend watching it! Full review coming soon on @ForAllNerds!
