Peace in the Storm!

Do you feel like you’re in the middle of a tumultuous, raging storm?

It’s pouring down rain, thundering and lightning all around you, the waves are crashing over the sides of the boat, and it seems that at any moment it will be capsized and sink?

Beloved, He is with you in the most boisterous of storms in your life! He has promised never to leave you, and to be your peace! He has given you His Comforter, the Holy Spirit, to help you!

John 14:26-27
But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in My Name, He shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

Peace I leave with you, My peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

You remember the story of the disciples in the boat with Jesus! The storm began to rage & they were greatly troubled and afraid!

Where was Jesus? Did He not care that they were in such a perilous situation?

Jesus was asleep!

Matthew 8:24-26
And, behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with the waves: but He was asleep.

And His disciples came to Him, and awoke Him, saying, Lord, save us: we perish. And He saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then He arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm.

Do you ever feel like the disciples? That at your times of deepest trial, you’re not hearing from Him; that you’ve been abandoned, and left alone; that He’s sleeping?

David felt like the Lord was asleep!

Psalm 44:23-26
Awake, why sleepest Thou, O Lord? arise, cast us not off for ever. Wherefore hidest Thou Thy face, and forgettest our affliction and our oppression?

For our soul is bowed down to the dust: our belly cleaveth unto the earth. Arise for our help, and redeem us for Thy mercies' sake.

We are told God never sleeps!

Psalm 121:4-5
Behold, He that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.

The Lord is thy Keeper: the Lord is thy shade upon thy right hand.

Beloved, Jesus wasn’t sleeping because He didn’t care! He was sleeping because He knew the outcome! He knew all was well! He also wanted them and us to trust Him and to have faith in Him!

Are your eyes on the circumstances in your life, the storm raging around you, or what look like mountains in front of you? Or are your eyes on Him?

Peter was able walk on the water to Jesus when He told him to come to Him, UNTIL he took his eyes off Jesus and looked at the storm!

Matthew 14:28-31
And Peter answered Him and said, Lord, if it be Thou, bid me come unto Thee on the water. And He said, Come.

And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus. But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me. And immediately Jesus stretched forth His hand, and caught him, and said unto him,

O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?

You can have peace in the storm, if you trust in Him; if you look to Him! He will use every single storm to perfect your faith, and to cause you to grow in Him!

You are most certainly not alone! He is with you and He will speak to the storms in your life and more importantly to you and say, Peace be still!

Psalm 46:10-11
Be still, and know that I Am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.

The Lord of Hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge.
