The UCP & Danielle Smith are aligned w/ extremist orgs, Alberta Prosperity Project & Take Back Alberta. These groups advocate for social reform & separation from Canada.

What they really want is a "constitutional republic" to enshrine their right-wing values & prevent future govs from making changes to implemented laws.

They've publicly discussed a plan to force the federal gov to yield to their demands "or else" 🧵2/9

A constitutional republic doesn't allow for societal progress or exceptional circumstances. It prevents govs from acting on unexpected problems such as pandemics or mass shootings. It removes power of future govs to make any changes, even in all our best interests. 🧵3/9

The UCP are a far-right party w/ ideologies that do not represent most Albertans. But if elected, they'll write a constitution for a "Sovereign Alberta" that imposes anything they want, regardless of the greater good. Then the #wexit campaign will begin. 🧵4/9

Danielle Smith, immediately before the 2022 UCP leadership campaign, was a registered lobbyist for Alberta Enterprise Group - an org that busied themselves w/ persuading government officials to make policy changes for their interests & profits. 🧵5/9 globalnews.ca/news/9267983/a…

Another driver behind it all is the influence of Oil & Gas corps in our political landscape.

Many high-ranking members of TBA, APP & the UCP itself, financially benefit from resource extraction & connections to the sector. Their motivations are entirely crooked & harmful. 🧵6/9

Dennis Modry, ex-CEO of Alberta Prosperity Project, discussed strategy to use First Nations as a pawn to establish trade agreements once Alberta is a "sovereign state" (24:55). Decision made not to support UNDRIP based on economic factors. 🧵7/9

If given a majority win this election, the UCP will be able to push any far-right agenda they choose.

They'll substantially change our province by introducing a tyrannical form of government that codifies separationist & pro-privatization ideals into the fabric of Alberta. 🧵8/9

No future government will be able to undo what the corrupt UCP & their allies in TBA & APP have planned if we allow them to get that far.

All they need now is an election win on May 29th. We CANNOT give it to them. 🧵/end
