#Fresno's city budget meeting is happening today at 10 AM there's no preview of the budget or agenda available to the public yet....if you can't make it don't worry I'll be live tweeting my thoughts.
Public comments were up first. The biggest concern of the community is housing accessibility and youth houseless community.
The fact that this proposed budget dropped after the special meeting started is strategic so that the people do not have time to evaluate and tear apart the budget before public comments.
Maxwell is saying council just got the budget proposal an hour ago with the fb live.
I think it’s absolutely weird that the Mayor’s press conference was just a FB Live with no press release and budget not available until after council meeting began.
Dyer says that the budget prioritizes community “safety” … and then goes to talk about the good credit standing of the city…. 🤔🤔
Dyer claims homicides are down 52%
Dyer is proposing to lease a bear cat vehicle
3200 new housing for affordable housing in 2024.
1644% of affordable housing increase and after says we should “be proud” of that number but neglecting to mention that redlining has put Fresno in a housing crisis since it’s inception.
“In all of our policing…uh districts” were you about to say “policing districts” Dyer?
$7.7M of ARPA dedicated to electric “uninterrupted power supply” equipment.
Phase 1 of airport budget increase will include more policing and security measures…. 🥴
AGAIN Advance Peace has been effective and successful LONG BEFORE last year. Stop minimizing the community work they’ve been doing for years Dyer.
$1.4M for city attorney’s office for increased litigation….which is weird because why is there an increase in litigation? Because you’re being sued more? Because you’re not addressing issues before it getting that far?
~$400K of ARPA for downtown demo AND tenant relocation…. someone expand on tenant relocation….why is the city relocating people at all?
50.9% of general fund is for police department
2024 budget is $130M increase from 2023*.
Transitioning the 5 city owned shelters on Motel Row to community organizations but Dyer doesn’t say when that transition happens.
