As a settler-construct built by euro-colonizers it is well-aware of the underlying fragility (history doesn’t treat oppressive structures kindly) and thus acts like it - exposing its pathological need for compensation as was demonstrated yesterday during its annual flag pogrom.

Zoé yesterday said it best: freedom of settlers *is* the violence. It reminds me of Fanon’s assertion that existence of colonizers is violence in itself. As such the settler state will not & cannot tire: it needs to perpetually escalate violence against natives to survive.

This also means it will continue to expose its essentially violent machinations, its desperately zealous claims & the fundamental radicalization of its members & allies. We will be witnesses to this & will be witnesses to Palestinian freedom, which is true liberation.

You can say about Samuel Johnson what you want but his line that “Patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel” fully applies here. The context might differ but what you see are scoundrels who have nothing else but an unbridled, excessive and mistaken sense of patriotism.
