Thread follows on disruption due to the Air Defender military exercise which starts June 12
Bad news @Transport_EU decided Air Defender is not an extraordinary circumstance despite #airlines receiving no specific info from ANSPs as to what the capacity reductions might be 1/3 👇
It should not fall on airlines to pay EU 261 compensation if air navigation service providers start imposing capacity reductions on airlines less than 2 weeks before scheduled dates of travel...the deadline to avoid such a scenario starts from this Monday, May 29. 2/3 👇
ANSPs & airports need to make specific plans to ensure max flexibility & capacity delivery throughout the period. It's also vital slot coordinators give flexibility to retime slots & for cancellations, & States extend airport operating hours if delays cascade through network. 3/3
