So 56 believes he will open a door to the very voters who closed his last enclave in the region by a religious, specifically Brahminical, sideshow? Has nobody told him that one of the most important feature of post-Independence politics in South India is Anti-Brahminism?

When you are surrounded by UCs like jshanks, no-lehsun-no-pyaaz or the Iyer (or Iyengar) Administrative Service, and have zero understanding of history, outside of Sanghi mythology, what else do you expect? Will eventually add a page to 56’s “Poor Advice” scrapbook.

The central vista project is nothing more nor less than usual monument-building fetish which every despot worth his concentration camps must eventually succumb to. Have we forgotten that that crucial repository of recorded history, our National Archives, was demolished for it?

Don’t you wonder what happened to those two centuries worth of irreplaceable documents? Mad tyrants of years past have been associated with library burnings, in Alexandria and Nalanda, Antioch and Baghdad. 56 has many precedents. Among them, Mahmud of Ghazni, Bakhtyar Khilji.

Then again, despots are always fearful of real history, even as they love to reframe up myths and legends as serious historical records; no wonder they feel compelled to erase them, so they can build their Reichs without compunction.

Remember that the greater the iniquity you are trying to shroud, the louder your ear-shattering flypasts, goose-step marches and Catherine wheels in the night sky need to be.
