When thousands of Atlantans took to the streets during the nationwide uprisings of 2020, they were responding decades of social disinvestment, displacement, and police violence, and calling for change.
What was the City's answer? Cop City. #StopCopCity
Atlanta has the highest level of income inequality in the U.S. and policing already accounts for 1/3 of the city budget.
Cop City is further investment in organized violence as the primary solution to the crisis created by organized abandonment.
Six days ago, an investigation uncovered that the city will pay MORE THAN DOUBLE the proposed $30 million share of the cost to build Cop City: $67 million.
Next Monday, the City Council will vote on the funding.
On Weds May 31 at noon, and on Sun June 4 at 11am, we'll be hosting ✨Action Hours on Zoom✨, calling Atlanta City Council members together to tell them to vote NO.
You can also make calls on your anytime before June 5th!
