Westwood Hills, Tantallon, wildfire update:
-- the wildfire, est. 788 hectares, remains out of control
-- 40 DNRR firefighters, and 80 Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM) and Department of National Defence firefighters on scene
-- three DNRR helicopters also on scene
-- winds expected to gust up to 30km/h throughout today, May 30, so fire may spread further this afternoon
-- fire crews focused on protecting houses and other structures, reinforcing fire perimeters & specific areas of concern
-- the current estimate from HRM is about 200 homes and structures have been damaged. This is a rapidly moving fire. People are asked to please remain away from the area. Follow @hfxgov & visit Halifax.ca for the latest.
Barrington Lake, Shelburne update: The wildfire, estimated at 9,682 hectares, is out of control. Firefighters on scene include 40 DNRR staff, 3 helicopters, over 40 volunteer fire departments, 1 water bomber from Newfoundland and Labrador. Crew is retuning from NWT to assist.
There will be no further updates tonight unless there are major changes. Updates will continue tomorrow morning.
Please stay away from the area. A reminder that there is a provincial fire ban in effect and of the dangers and restrictions of operating drones over forest fires.
Westwood Hills, Tantallon update: The wildfire, estimated to cover 788.3 hectares, is out of control. Firefighters on scene include 170 from the HRM, 32 DNRR staff, 3 helicopters and 1 waterbomber from Newfoundland and Labrador. Crew is returning from NWT to assist.

Premier Tim Houston announced today that the Province will provide $500 to every household required to evacuate because of recent fires in HRM and Shelburne County. Details on eligibility and how residents can register will be available tomorrow.
