NEW: Large scale evacuations and damage were reported in the Kyrgyzstan-Tajikistan border clash that took place in September 2022. Bellingcat has created an interactive map to show the extent of the conflict’s impact. bellingcat.com/news/2023/05/2…
To create the map of incidents, the Bellingcat team and @bellingcatgap used Google Earth Pro, NASA FIRMS, @planet, and social media and media footage to find and geolocate footage or photographs of building damage. Explore the map here. bellingcat.github.io/vis-tj-kg-map-…
@bellingcatgap @planet The map shows 12 villages in Kyrgyzstan affected, with observed changes to 379 buildings and four villages in Tajikistan with changes to 19 buildings, in the days after the clash.
