Isn’t it ironic: #DeSantis has 2 men in #Iowa #Caucus campaigning for him that he worked closely with for #COVID19 shutdowns that lasted 6 MONTHS into Sept. 2020.
One is DEMOCRAT Dave Kerner who created COVID police and snitch lines to go after businesses for customers not wearing masks. DeSantis then elevated him to an executive role in the state to oversee all Florida Highway Patrol officers.
The other is the former head of the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation, Halsey Beshears, who at the behest of DeSantis, ordered bars shut until Sept. 14, 2020.

Thread 🧵: Dishonest DeSimps want you to believe DeSantis nullified local mask mandates back in May 2021.
That is not the case.
As Executive of the State during a declared public health emergency DeSantis always had the ability to pre-empt mask mandates in the first place, but he chose not to.
DeSantis’ own FLDOH Dr. Alonso advised for mandatory masks.
In 2021, DeSantis wrote WEAK executive orders that allowed for loopholes & for mask mandates that continued into Feb 2022.
DeSantis’ office was informed about continued mask mandates despite DeSantis (and now DeSimps) saying he nullified local orders on May 3, 2021, but DeSantis & his lack of action & weak executive orders failed to stop the mask mandates.
Even worse, DeSantis had ability in the new law that passed in July 2021 to invalidate any local order that “unnecessarily restricts individual rights or liberties” & despite DeSantis’ office being aware that mask mandates continued in Florida by local governments he failed to step in and stop them.
Mask mandates continued in #Florida in PUBLIC government buildings with the threat of police trespass for non-compliance into Feb. 2022.
Even worse, DeSantis hired one of the Democrat local mayors, Dave Kerner, who pushed mask mandates into 2022 to be a State executive in 2023.
It wasn’t until 2023 (3 years later) where a law signed by DeSantis banded mask mandates for COVID in more places than just for children in public schools.
More in thread with evidence & receipts:
On local mask mandates, DeSantis says “So we are not preempting any of that…I’ve told the Mayor you have to take the decisions that you think are gonna work well in Dade & we’ve encouraged him to do that”
#DeSantis wrote, “I was adamant that a mask mandate was not an appropriate use of government power.” Yet, his own #Florida Dept. of Health Doctor advised a mask mandate that went on for over 1 yr
“I highly recommend that we go forward with the wearing of the masks as mandatory”
On March 17, 2020 DeSantis wrote executive orders directing:
Pursuant to sections252.36(5)(g)-(h),FloridaStatutes, an licensee authorized to sell alcoholic beverages for consumption on premises that derive more than 50% of its gross revenue from the sale ofalcoholic beverages… twitter.com/i/web/status/1…
Upon initial re-opening into phase 1, businesses that derived more than 50% revenue from alcohol sales on premises could not be open due to DeSantis’ executive order that suspended sales on-premise of alcohol.
