✨ HOW I SLAYED THE MAY 2023 CPALE 😜 ✨ (A thread)

Disclaimer: I reviewed in REO during undergrad (6months), I was able to finish their Tax, FAR, AFAR and MS vid lectures and handouts. During the review proper (6months before CPALE), I am a CPAR F2F reviewee.

So di ko na nabalikan mga handouts ni reo gaano. Feel ko nasa puso ko na sya nun hahahah. Thus, mostly CPAR reference ko for 6months.

Also, I am a full-time reviewee.

The tips/opinions may vary from other reviewees

✨ BOOKS, LECTURES, HANDOUTS ✨

As a CPAR enrollee, nag focus nalang talaga ako sa handouts nila and I can say na ENOUGH na yun sa board exam. Of course with the reference of reviewer books esp sa FAR (kasi mej mahirap sa boards for meee). Di na ako naghoard para di maoverwhelm

✨ Note-taking ✨

- Yung normal lang na note taking hahaha sa notebook or ipad.
- PEN: Goojodoq, wag ilaglag pls nalaglag ko yung una ko tas nasira. - App: Goodnotes

- I do summaries per topic para madali ko lang marecall, meron ako sa MS word like thizz. Ginawa ko nung undergrad review, it helps kasi alam mo yung mga need mo talaga tandaan per topic and helpful sya pag mga preboards and board exam itself —

Kasi yung mga irerecall mo na important points ay alam mo na. Also nung nagswitch ako to digital notes, gumagawa ako ng summary per topic ng SUPER important na need ko tandaan like this. So mostly pinaka important na yan sa topic.

Tip: Sanayin yung sarili magsolve sa left hand para nagsusulat nalang sa kanang kamay, mas efficient esp for subjects na puro solving at time constraint

This post is not to endorse or what. Personally, I drink Glutaphos during the whole 6 months of review, 1 dose each day. Two doses 1 month before CPALE.

I also drink enervon para di magkasakit hahaha which is i think ok naman.

Originally ayoko uminom ng mga ganun pero kawawa naman yung brain ko need nya ng help hahahha. Pero seriously kasi sa sobrang dami ng info na tatandaan natin, maybe we need to give it a little help ganern

FOREST!!!

I use Forest App. It is helpful kasi makikita mo yung hours spent each subject.
Cons: Can’t pause! Pero okay lang hahaha

Also may bayad sya sa IOS (not sure sa android) pero worth it!

❗️ FAR

-FAR:
⁃Solve valix. Sabi nila hindi Valix type pero since there’s no revolving materials talaga, valix parin.

FAR (cont) ⁃I cover to cover if keri kasi yung valix, iba’t ibang concepts yung natatamaan per questions.
⁃Solve for 3 mins.
⁃Also focus din sa theories, mej nahirapan ako sa theories nung board exam

FAR (cont)

- Practice solving!! wag mag-iiwan ng topic. Assets til Equity complete dapat hahaha
⁃Minsan naneneglect na ang dulo na topics, like SMEs or equity part pero plss don’t ignoreee plsss

❗️AFAR

⁃Practice solving questions na different concepts ang natatamaan.
⁃Since mej mahaba ang solution sa afar diba minsan, if you feel like masasagot mo na sya, wag mo ng sagutan hahaha.
⁃Solve for 3 mins per questions

⁃Practice efficiency AND accuracy
⁃Solving talaga ang ipractice here
⁃Wag malungkot if mababa sa PB. Lowest ko to both PB sa cpar and reo, napapa question ako sa pagtake.

- Pero for me keri nung board exam, siguro dala narin ng sobrang practice dahil sa trauma

⁃De Jesus, maganda yung theories nya.
⁃Vouching for CPAR and De Jesus here for problem solving!!

❗️MS

⁃Original questions, concept-based.
⁃For me, enough na ang cpar and roque reviewer. Bobadilla mej mahirap ang theories if you want to go deeper. Pero for me, keri na ang basics.
⁃practice solvingggggg alam nyo naman yung trend nakaraan

Tax
⁃emphasis na sa theories.
⁃sometimes kasi u feel like madali ang theories, pero hindi pala huhuuu
⁃Vouching for CPAR ho here may mga theories mcqs every end of the lesson. May problems din. But galing sa REO yung concepts ko talaga dito

⁃I did not use any reviewer books kasi feel ko enough na yung sa cpar since marami nga.
⁃For CPAR babies, try answering reo pbs kasi ma problem yung preboard ng cpar, if want nyo masanay sa theories or yung mcqs nalang natin kada chapter

❗️RFBT
⁃Hmm. Alam na hahaha prayer and faith make wonders!!
⁃Repetition siguro para maging familiar sa mga need imemorize.
⁃Civil laws: answer mcqs para malaman yung mga need ng emphasis tandaan. Voting rights for corp and coop very important

⁃Special laws: ang dami nito dibuhh. Focus din sa high-yielding ng special laws: AMLA, FRIA. High yielding ng civil: Corporation (for this, I used ICARE handouts + answered their 500+ MCQS for corp, utilize mnemonics din here)

- Basta dapat may alam talaga per law kasi di mo alam saan tatanungin dun.
⁃Law is repetition para matandaan. I make separate notes for “Days/months/years”, penalties, voting rights, amounts. Example: sama sama na lahat ng laws dito

For me dapat grabe yung repetition dito lalo na pag malapit ang boards.

❗️ AUD PROB
⁃I only used CPAR HO for aud prob, di na me nag practice sa reviewer bookss. Tinatanggap ko nalang pag mababa ako sa preboards sa audprob hahahaha pero still it depends upon you kung magpa practice ka.

⁃They said Wiley. Di ako nakatry since wala ng time pero you may tryy (i answered 100 questions lang)

Only used CPAR Hos, madami narin kasi and sapat na sya for me. CPAR babies, take note sa mga ineemphasis ni sir roqueee, helpful talaga sa boards, as enn!!!!

✨ Planning your review ✨

⁃I follow CPAR’s review sched. For context, we have an F2F Class weekdays 8-12 noon. If ano yung sched na topic this day, yun yung inaaral ko paguwi. So 2 subjects per day. I do advance study before going to class before 1st pb

pero i changed my strategy nung after nf 1st pb. So pumapasok ako ng walang idea sa class and okay naman. So di ako naniniwalang fast-paced talaga ang CPAR for me

⁃During my undergrad review sa REO, I made my own sched. One subject per day.

Since di ako nakasunod sa study guide.

I have one policy during my 6month review: NO BACKLOGS POLICY

✨ Recalling ✨

- I made my separate calendar for recalling. I made sure to recall A DAY after, A WEEK AFTER, and A MONTH AFTER. (Sorry pangit writing ko here hahaha)

How?

It can be thru Concept recall, Problem solving, or preboards of other RCs. As for me, I resolve my past mistakes sa topic na to, for tax and RFBT (I recall thru passive recall rememorize or minsan mcqs)

Recalling is VERY important. Studying without recalling IS NOTHING, you need to help your brain to remember things!

✨ CHEAT DAY ✨

- I don’t have any huhuuz. Pomodoro lang talaga, after 25 mins of studying, I do 5 mins break. May longer breaks MINSAN, pero madalas wala. Pag feel ko nabuburnout ako, naglalakad ako sa labas ng dorm at kumakain.

✨ Coffee ✨

⁃Kopiko Lucky Day!! Every morning sa klase may lucky day ako as an antukin person, buhay ako the whole day. Di naman hirap matulog

✨ Breaking down ✨

Since brokenhearted ako hahahaha, umiiyak ako after ng pomodoro ko LOL. Tapos mag-aaral after. We have to be stronger than our emotions, or else, we’ll lose every time!! Pero di naman whole review ako BH, mga 1.5 months lang

Also, PRAYER really works. Nag nonovena and rosary ako aside from going to sunday masses

✨ DURING CPALE ✨

⁃I did not sleep early huhu. Mga 5 hrs lang tulog ko 3 days cpale kasi nagrerecall (passive recall) ako the night before. hahahaha.
- I also changed my strategy here, 2 weeks before panay PB/preweek/memorize nalang ako

⁃Panic attacks, i did not experience any. Kinabahan lang ako nung MS pero the rest ng 3 days, para lang syang preboard experience for me, which is sanay narin naman yung mga nag F2F, 3-Days PB (1ST AND FINAL).

Pero once I read kay Kuya Jasper Tagle na parang dinrop nya yung pencil nya and nagpray sya for a while then resume answering. I took note of that.

✨ STUDY ROUTINE ✨

8-12 noon : Review center (pero pag absent ako, nag aaral lang ako)
12-1pm: Lunch, cellphone
1-7pm: Aral
7-8pm: Dinner
8pm-1am : Study

✨ Preboards ✨

Preboards are a good assessment to assess your capacity to take the boards, but it should not be a deciding factor if YOU SHOULD take the boards. (Once read this from Atty. Nicko).

From the 1st preboards, assess yourself, ano yung mga subjects na hihilain ka pababa possibly? Focus on thattt, maybe change your materials, watch other RC’s vid lec, increase study hours — strategize. The goal is no below 65 sa actual boards

✨ CPAR ✨

At first I was hesitant to enroll sa CPAR because “pang-matalino” daw and baka di mag match sa sarili ko kasi mejo hindi maganda yung foundation ko gawa ng online class hirap mag absorb. Pero a friend and some previous reviewees —

told me na yung CPAR is very concise yung handouts, they just give you things na kailangan mo for the boards (except Tax kasi mej makapal handouts namin here). True enough kasi 6 months lang ang review di mo naman lahat mapapasok sa brain mo.

Pati yung discussion namin sa classroom. Di mo naman ieexpect na “zero-base” talaga kasi 2 hrs per week lang kayo (some subjects are 3hrs). Discussions are concised to the point na maiintindihan mo parin talaga sya and yung

mga concepts na need mo tandaan for boards ay ineemphasize. CPAR’s learning style matched w/ me. Nakakapasok ako ng walang alam sa room since may mga topics na limot ko na.

Thennn, what I like about CPAR:

Yung preboards (I really like the preboards wala lang hahaha), preweek matsss (except siguro sa tax, kasi puro problem yung preweek namin, tho marami naman kaming HO na theory).

Also CPAR’s pb is 3 days kaparehas ng sched ng CPALE. Grabeng pagod ko nung 1st PB as in super bagsak ng katawan ko. Pero i noticed na di na ganun kapagod nung final PB and actual cpale. Feel ko nasanay ako sa cpar.

✨ Multiple RCs✨

I kind of struggled here sa subject ng AFAR and MS. Iba kasi yung approach ni Sir Ngina kay Sir Louie, Sir Roque and Sir Rhad. Thus, I really have to choose kung ano yung gagamitin ko for 6months ng review.

Yung ginamit ko nalang is kay Sir Louie and Sir Roque for AFAR and MS, kasi sa CPAR naman ako magtetake ng pb.

Pero as for Tax and FAR, gamit na gamit ko yung foundation ko kay REO ♥️

Reason why di ako pumapasok gaano sa CPAR sa tax and far hehe 😂 More on MCQs / prac acc nalang ako
